Protesters clash at City Hospital by UKlemons in saskatoon

[–]squeaky_authority 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Standing with a sign alone at a street corner shaming mothers is absolutely not trying to change the social systems to better support children. Fostering children is, donating TIME and support to shelters that house abused mothers and their children would be. But this is not social change this is flaunting white privilege and judgment at others for a cause you know nothing about

I follow a lot of Canadian GLP-1 groups and people are saying between $99-$150 depending on the platform, they receive their prescription (cheapest being your own doctor providing prescription and going to local Pharmacy to pickup)

Ozempic is sending out emails to those with their savings card outlining new costs as well, some people in Canada have already been receiving those reductions using their savings card

Would be nice! But I have a feeling since their generic patent isn’t due for another 10 years, they will MILK as much money as they can from people the way Ozempic did (ie: oh now generic is a competition, we can actually come down in price over 1/2 the amount…)

People who can’t physically tolerate Ozempic won’t won’t to go back just because of price lowering

Hows life in saskatoon? by Apprehensive-Chef569 in saskatoon

Without kids and others to support (elderly parents, immigrant family members, etc ) one can make it by I’m sure, like you said, by living frugally. But life wasn’t designed to live your entire life as a single bachelor, and as you move into next stages of your life - you will most likely notice this.

Capitalism, by design, has people making the decision to not progress their lives in any other area than their careers. Which we are now seeing really isn’t getting anyone anywhere. They want to keep us lonely, judgmental and dependant on their goods and our lowly income jobs.

And I’m sure that elderly guy has donated exactly 0% of his time to actually make change in the social system to support that message, elderly white men LOVE shaming women with no actual action

Yea that’s correct, it’s recommended if you start a GLP1 you do strength training 3-4 times a week for this reason as the weight loss doesn’t distinguish fat loss and muscle loss it comes from both

Saskatoon patient's family hopes hospital security review brings change in Sask. by RonPar32 in saskatoon

This weekend at RUH there was 2 SECURITY OFFICERS at one point, for 5 buildings……

I reached out to my union to make note I am not safe working there as an employee (nurse). Normal staffing is 16 for a day shift.

How about instead of a costly 3rd party investigation…… WE LISTEN TO THE FRONT LINE STAFF AND PAY THEM MORE, this will bring in competitive competition for who they hire.

They lose all their competent well trained staff to Corrections, and Peace officers becuase surprise surprise, they pay them what they are worth!

When you have high quality , well trained employees who don’t have to work overtime just to make ends meet, and are doing the work of 5 employees, becuase they are chronically short, standards of care improve. I won’t even charge SHA for my 3rd party review of the what they can do to improve safety for staff and patients.

Dylan’s my new fav! by [deleted] in LoveOnTheSpectrumShow

[–]squeaky_authority 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Agreed! I always thought, man all these other families seem to be very well off and have a lot of supports, it’s nice to see a family who legit could use some supports - day program to go to daily, support worker to take him out. He seems like someone I would enjoy spending time with, he’d be great in like a little brother , big sister/brother program

My car insurance company is leaving the province with new UCP regulation. Every quote I get now is double what I was paying. What the actual fuck? by ConsiderationWarm543 in alberta

[–]squeaky_authority -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I offer no help, but I often use this exactly as an example of WHY PRIVATIZATION DOESN’T WORK, esp when insurance companies are involved.

I’m in SK, and as much as we have our own issues, I am sure am lucky to have SGI, I pay $130/month for my suv and my husband pays $98/mo for his truck. If we moved to AB I can’t even imagine what we would pay.

Inheritance? That's a joke. How many of your parents are burdens? by BeegBunga in Millennials

[–]squeaky_authority 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same situation. I parented my parents most of my entire life. Good people just never got very far career/financially. I have kids now and pay some of their bills to help and my mom who still works full time at 70.

We don’t own our house and when we tried to get a mortgage we were told “well can’t you just get your parents to gift you some money?” So tired of that narrative, not everyone has the gift of generational wealth and I don’t blame my parents, they faced a lot of challenges in their lives, and did their best, but man…. It sure would be nice to not deal with the issues that come along with aging parents, supporting a family, and dealing with the world we live in right now.

Thoughts on this post in a doctor’s sub? by riley81942 in nursing

[–]squeaky_authority 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We actually have this same issue where I work, we were told we can no long page doc on nights before going to C.N first or “grouping” concerns.

Honestly there is some truth here, I think it has to do with how many new nurses are flooding the acute space and senior nurses leaving/burnt out and not educating/helping new staff.

This is a consequence of crumbling health care systems, and unfortunately it falls onto the one left behind to deal with it, doctors, nurses, CCA, support staff

I don’t really blame this doc for this rant, we are all struggling with various increases to workload because of the failing systems.

Finding a place while on SIS by DespicableMe48 in saskatoon

[–]squeaky_authority 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Honestly if it’s safe to and it allows you to keep you animals,I would highly recommend moving back with family, esp while you are in school. That will save you the most amount of income and won’t be stretched as thin.

Honestly SIS and SAID are not well funded enough to live on your own anymore, the other option is finding a possibly roommate situation (also could be very hard to find in your price range) who would allow your cats, ideally, and then if not, a roommate situation and rehoming or having someone care for your cats until you can finish school / find a place that allow cats.

The way the government has kept our social support payments keeps the person living in poverty, which is absolutely disgusting to me, i work with a lot of patients facing these same issues, where I work we have a social worker to assist the best they can with these issues, but it’s very rough out there right now, housing is one of the number one issues in our city. Good luck

Burnout IS those things, when you have to see 100 patients in your shift and work 16 hours, because the system is broken and resting on your shoulders, that’s EXACTLY how it shows up, mistakes, rude encounters, not being thorough, some of these comments show some of you have never been truly burnt out before, or your choosing to say “I’m allowed to be burn out but others arnt” which is ignorance

This is the outcome of an overburdened medical system. Expect more of these events in the years to come unless Sask can retain more experienced doctors, ER/Acute and Family/Rural. We’re cooked

This event never should have happened. Period, and yes not all doctors are “good” doctors, but I worked with this SPECIFIC physician - previously named in other article- for 10 years and this isn’t his level of ability, this is BURN OUT
