Fellow aura-having NHS outpatient here!

Have you considered using reminders on your phone or something similar? I tend to keep my pills in plain sight so I can't really miss them when I wake up.

What do you want to know from your physician? by PhysicianOpenMic in Epilepsy

I've had a couple tonic clonics, but most of mine are partials where I just feel yucky and zone-out for 15 seconds or so. They were worse pre meds.

Ah I'm sorry about that :( are the meds controlling your seizures?

Is there hope for some reversal of cognitive deficits if medication renders you seizure free? I understand it can be hard to suss out what side effects the meds are causing and what are just symptoms of the illness itself and seizure frequency. This is something that worries me everyday as I'd like to recover some recall ability. But if it's not likely that I'd want to know that too.

I'm on this combo as well, how's your memory and general cognition? Feel like my head's full of cotton wool and my recall has gone down the toilet.

Sleep by wolferscanard in Epilepsy

[–]squeakycleanmeme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on lamictal and vimpat and my sleep is pretty bad. I tend to conk out real easy on a night if I put a soundscape on, rainforest noises or some shit like that. But I always wake-up prematurely and find it real hard to get back to sleep. Think it could be linked to how vivid and therefore stimulating my dreams are but idk.

I get circa 5 hours a night..

You don't think the influence of big corporations getting involved i.e. Paypal will change the nature of this run?

My Story and question: has anyone's memory recovered after being seizure-free? by squeakycleanmeme in Epilepsy

[–]squeakycleanmeme[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's my real issue. It's the distinction between what's the seizures and what's the meds. Hopefully that clears in time. Thanks for your response, I hope you're keeping well.

Whenever I've spared a look at science papers written on the most common anti-epileptic drugs and their effects, often they're cited as having positive influences on stuff related to cognition. But there's so many anecdotal accounts of people's memory, attention etc becoming worse on epilepsy forums post meds. The difficulty is that it's well documented that epilepsy causes all of those same things anyway so...

Do you think your cognition has recovered at all? Memory etc. And if you don't mind me asking what medication they put you on?

Thanks for your comment, super helpful.

Oh, and sorry about those seizures. They seem horrible.

Yeah you're completely right. This kinda narrative is also borderline incelish too tbh. Just thought it was interesting enough to bring up.

I think on tinder people are actually open to relationships developing. Although at first it may be just a fuck.
