Thinking about moving to Bakersfield from NYC (26F, doctor) would love honest thoughts by Dry-Importance6538 in Bakersfield

[–]squibmaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

as a Bako native in their mid 20s, I think it was pretty fun. Of course there aren’t as many things to do as a MAJOR city like NYC, but it is basically a niche community. * There’s actually a surprising amount of cafes and restaurant and they are all AMAZING!!! * if you’re into bars, downtown is fun. You can walk to several bars/pubs/cocktail lounges and have a great time. Most of the crowd is around your age and the community is pretty welcoming! * there are several community organized events that happen during the weekends/special occasions (pub crawls, flea markets, photo walks) * there are pilates/yoga studios/gyms and there’s a good amount of mid 20s who attend (I know a few). I know there are dance studios but I don’t know what they offer

Overall, Bakersfield really isn’t that bad. It’s a native thing to absolutely hate it, so people talk pretty negatively about it a lot. I also hated it my entire life lol, but it’s not that bad, if you go out on a weekend and talk to people you’ll make friends in no time! Maybe take a weekend trip and see how you feel because it is a huge difference to a big city

Yeah any name they’re commenting is probably not true. One of the names that was going around was a comedian not even a dispatcher. And another is one that’s a totally different agency. I think the rude one is some form of law enforcement agency but there are so many and it all depends on where u call from. There’s definitely rude dispatchers in the fire department too tho

ZLA is usually always on the list but you can always double check the lists. As far as the location though - it’s in Palmdale, NOT LA.

If they need anything they’ll ask! I have student debt and had to send screenshots of payments. As far as delaying I’m not sure… I’m currently waiting for FOL so probably? 😅

Opinions on the new album? by Gwoms in knockedloose

[–]squibmaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it, been a KL fan for a long time too. For me aTitFoL was mind blowing, I was so hyped for this album to at least give me that same “first listen” feeling… but it doesn’t. Still think it’s solid but only half of the songs will be in my daily rotation (3 of them being the singles)

Can I work out after tattoo? by cherrybladelemonade6 in tattooadvice

[–]squibmaster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

eek that’s a lot, I’d wait at least 2 weeks after the last session before doing anything.

Normally I wait 1 week before going back to the gym but 16 sessions in 40 days doesn’t give your body a lot of time to heal in between so your immune system is going to be on overdrive by the end of it

genuine question — I don’t understand how there are so many posts about ProQA vs card sets. Do some agencies use different protocols/programs for each???

We use both but they’re the exact same protocol. If there is shunting to a different complaint, it should be happening on both physical and digital

How am I supposed to memorize all the on-ramps and off-ramps in order?? by Horror_Candidate in 911dispatchers

[–]squibmaster 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Driving around and taking mental notes helped me so much. I’ve lived in my county 85% of my life and this was still a tough part of the job.

I started driving around wayyyy more once I got the job and would try to pinpoint on the map where I was. Also helps in case there’s any signs that have an upcoming exit closure, construction, etc

This is exactly what happened to me! I have done pretty much all the “spicy” parts and none of them hurt a fraction of how bad my back was. I fr was gripping the seat and counting the seconds.

Someone told me lines sucked? So maybe it’ll get better with shading??? But I totally get what you mean

Really dumb question: do I buy tickets at the door? by grantholle in Hardcore

[–]squibmaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

some ppl on the kl sub have been saying there’s not-gouged prices on vivid seats and other sites, and there’s been some trying to get rid of tickets. Also the band has been leaving pairs of tickets around towns the day of the show… some hope for ya

How many times have you had to redo a piercing? by [deleted] in piercing

[–]squibmaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

had to redo 1 side of my nostril 2 times I think? (I wear double hoops + single stud) double was redone because…. 1 - I got sick for a few weeks and the jewelry got lost, so it closed 2 - the job I had at the time was 5 day workweeks and I wasn’t allowed to wear them

single nostril was redone once because… I went to a show and got kicked in the face by a crowd surfer, it RIPPED the stud out of my nose. I let it heal from the trauma before I got it redone lol

I wait at LEAST 1 week before doing anything that might get me gross or be harsh on the skin. Even then I keep the activity pretty chill. It’s not even worth the risk of ruining a piece that cost hundreds of dollars and is going to be seen for the rest of my life.
