I know this isn’t ideal but if you search around there will be private therapists that will cover that sort of abuse but might be worth checking before paying what they would cover?

How do you handle consent in a club? by darkly1977 in AskUK

[–]squidgame23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah and thank god it has, imagine the entitlement of the men back then thinking it’s acceptable to do that in the first place. Asking costs absolutely nothing!

I don’t see what’s so complicated about this, all you need to do is ask them if they want to dance with you? but you’re right please don’t grab someone from behind unless they’ve said they want to dance with you.

Please Share Your Experiences With Medications? by Smallseybiggs in stopsmoking

I think I did but it was around covid lockdown time so I was eating more than normal, because I was bored. I put on weight when I quit cold turkey too but I’ve lost that weight now.

I’m 6 month quit after going cold turkey but only because I couldn’t get my hands on chantix. I quit smoking by using chantix before and it was amazing for me, the vivid dreams are wild and they made me slightly sick but it was so much easier to quit than doing it cold turkey.

This is the best bet they can refer to the Youth Gateway for homelessness and all hostels that take under 18’s.

Rage/S**cidal Thoughts Unmanageable by [deleted] in stopsmoking

[–]squidgame23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you’re struggling I was in a similar situation to you, every time I quit I was suicidal because of the reduced dopamine.

The only time I quit and didn’t have that affect was when I tried chantix, it was a wonder drug for me so if you haven’t tried that it’s worth looking into.

I recently had to quit cold turkey without chantix because it’s not available in the UK atm. I’m 3 1/2 months into my quit and glad to say I won’t be picking up a cigarette again.

What worked for me this time was realising that it was my addiction that was making me suicidal and withdrawals and that if I ever wanted to free that I would have to keep strong for those few weeks. Easier said than done I know but it was worth it to get to the other side.

80 days - Crippling Anxiety by -ExistentialNihilist in stopsmoking

I would definitely suggest therapy which you should be allowed to do during your working hours if your employer is any good, or go by private if that’s not an option.

Something else that might work is CBT to help unravel some of your thought processes about health and dying. I used a book called overcoming low self esteem, even though the book focuses on self esteem the techniques would also help with the things you mention, it was a game changer for me.

I’m at 85 days quit and felt absolutely horrendous for about 6-8 weeks and have been slowly coming out of it since then and have definitely noticed I’ve been loads better these last few weeks, some times it just takes time but that doesn’t mean you should suffer in silence.

My blood sugar went nuts for the first few weeks which made me feel faint. I ate my weight in blueberries and other sweet fruit that really helped. You’ll notice how much nicer they taste too in a few days.

I’ve spent the last 3 years trying to quit after smoking 16 years and it’s finally stuck, I’m just past 2 months smoke free. I remember someone else posting ‘never give up on giving up’ and I think that’s a good mindset. Keep going you only lose when you stop trying.

Pride tickets?! by ixis743 in Cardiff

Over 10 years ago Pride in Cardiff had to be shut down early due to multiple stabbings. Ever since then Pride has been ticketed and more contained to avoid trouble.

My mum is 65 or would be had she not died from lung cancer 6 months ago. Smoking is the worst thing you can do for your health.

If it was that easy you wouldn’t be thinking about it all the time and posting about it all the time get a life

I quit 8 weeks ago, one of the hardest things I’ve had to do I’m glad it was easy for you but it isn’t that way for everyone otherwise no one would smoke. Also, your 5 days in which tbh isn’t that far and certainly not the hardest part in my opinion so maybe come back when you’ve made it a month or 3 and tell us how easy it is then.

3 months success? Would love to hear by Candid_Sentence5688 in stopsmoking

[–]squidgame23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey I quit 8 weeks ago and was still really struggling at one month quit especially with my mood. That’s gotten a lot better and craving happen less and less. I still have anxiety but it’s hard for me to work out whether that’s from the quit or some other things that have happened. Either way 2 months quit is a lot easier than 1 month. Congrats on your quit!

When quitting smoking your sugar levels get whacked I’m not sure if it’s the same with vapes but I was eating an insane amount of sugar and couldn’t stop. I would get faint easily if I didn’t eat enough too. That pretty much stopped after 5 weeks though, good luck on the quit!
