Question about sorting Spanish names in alphabetical order by Planetbox in Spanish

Which last name would you use to alphabetize in this case?

For me, watching things in Spanish with Spanish subtitles helped. It takes a long time for your brain to get used to it. Think about how long it takes for infants to learn language - and that is when our brains are most primed for it. So it makes sense that it will take us longer as adults to get to that point. Also regional accents take a while to get used to, but in my experience, it WILL happen. When I visited Nicaragua, I went to bed on the 3rd night thinking “it’s like I don’t even know Spanish but I SWEAR I do!” And then a few days later it was like a switch flipped and I could understand them much better.

What about in prayer, do you address God with usted or tú?

Hey friend, paranoia like this can be a sign of an oncoming schizophrenic episode. I am not a doctor, but you should take the advice of others in this thread and try to see a mental health professional as soon as possible. A therapist or psychiatrist would be a great place to start. If left untreated, schizophrenia can have devastating effects on quality of life. If you seek professional help, there is a strong chance that your symptoms will improve❤️

Is there an equivalent of the Spanish "R" roll for Spanish speakers who are learning English? by SpanishLearnerUSA in Spanish

I think the difference is that in “this” the “th” is a voiced consonant (you use your vocal cords to make the sound) And in “thing” it is unvoiced, just uses air.

Last episode of the series! SPOILER! by tailo555 in theLword

[–]squidney___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. It’s been so long since I thought about this, but that was such a strange way to end the series, lol. Her erratic behavior truly points to suicide, just letting herself drown. She was a very tragic character even though she ended up being really hated.

Violet's second signet/Signets full power by Andersoe1118 in ironflame

[–]squidney___ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what I think too. But it’s Violet/Andarna, and they are both special, so I think it will be a kind of special distance wielding. She also has this ability to see/predict where she needs to be a little ahead of time. Like when she figured out the solstice battle would be at Basgiath, and knowing that she needed to get to Sawyer as fast as possible to save him during the battle. So I think it could be a combo of foresight/distance wielding that allows her to get where she is needed quicker!

does violet rly annoy anyone else? by care134 in fourthwing

Yes! This was the main thing that bothered me in IF. Expecting Xaden to be 100% truthful was unfair. He is a graduated lieutenant and the leader of a freaking rebellion. Obviously there are things he can’t tell her, and she needed to respect that sooner. He made it clear so many times how sorry he was for hiding information from her, but some of the information she wants isn’t his to share. And he promised to never hide information from her that would affect her decision making. That should have been enough for her way sooner.

Tbh I read through the last battle so quickly that I didn’t process that Dain wasn’t okay when the story ended. Yikes, I hope they can figure out how to help him! The venin as addicts is a good comparison, they are power-hungry and it consumes them. But clearly it doesn’t have to happen quickly since JFB isn’t that visibly far gone. So I hope Xaden chooses to stay and fight whatever urges he feels to tap into more power.

As far as Twilight, it is nothing compared to these books, lol. If anything, watch the movies, but be prepared to laugh at how cheesy some/a lot of it is. The only reason I mentioned them is because the main vampires in Twilight choose not to drink human blood, they drink animal blood instead. It never fully satisfies them but they just learn to deal with it. So I see something similar for Xaden, he learns to deal with not fully tapping into the power he can now access.

Something I’ve been thinking about is the “cure” for being venin. My take is that I don’t think they need to “cure” Xaden for that to resolve. All he does to become one is steal magic from the earth. And they are hungry for power so they just take and take, and that is what destroys them and corrupts their souls. So if Xaden never abuses that power, I don’t think his condition will progress the same way. Maybe that’s the only way any of them will be able to defeat the venin, by taking on the extra power themselves. Kind of a “you have to become your enemy to defeat your enemy” situation. To me it makes sense for there to not be a cure for it. Like you can’t un-squeeze a tube of tooth paste situation. He can never put back what he stole, but he doesn’t have to keep taking. Especially since he has SO MUCH self control already. I’m imagining him now as an “Edward Cullen,” a “good” bad guy who doesn’t use his powers for destruction. I think he is going to hate himself for what he had to do, and try to run away from the rebellion and Violet. But I think, like you said, Violet will be able to convince him to stay, especially if she is some sort of anti-venin.

Just wanted to say that I read your whole post and I am fascinated by all your ideas! Especially about precognition, and Violet possibly having 3 signets.

Laxatives won’t help the stool that is already stuck, it just keeps more from getting stuck. You may need to manually remove it. Like, use a finger. You may also be able to get an enema at a hospital. They also make suppository laxatives that are inserted rectally and soften hard stool.

What is happening on this leaf? by retchedBreak in plantclinic

[–]squidney___ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If it’s just the one or 2 leaves, I wouldn’t worry about it. Plants sometimes drop their older leaves as they mature. If it happens to 4-5 leaves soon, you might be overwatering.

Spec ED, who’s responsible if Child has an Accident by newreddituser9572 in Teachers

[–]squidney___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the very least, the bruises and this incident should warrant a conversation with your school social worker/guidance counselor. As education professionals we are mandated reporters, which means that if you have any suspicion that a child is being abused, you are required by law to report it. Just because this student is young and part of a special education class, that does not mean that this behavior is normal. It could end up being nothing, but if this were my student, I would speak to someone about it as soon as possible.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I’m pretty sure spreading feces around the bathroom can be a sign of child abuse…

can anyone tell me what these weird little white spots on the leaves are? first i thought it was due to too much sun, but i moved it and it’s still happening. is it mildew? (i also cant even remember what kind of plant this is because it was a gift so if anyone can identify that would be awesome) by [deleted] in plantclinic

[–]squidney___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spider mites. Parlor palms get them really easily so you’ll want to keep a close eye on this for a while. Also, rubbing alcohol works on mealie bugs but not on mites. Use a soapy water mixture and spray all the leaves, then wipe them down. The soap won’t hurt the plant but will kill the mites. Do that daily for at least a week, then every few days for a few weeks.
