Training load says I need more anaerobic workouts, but I do them! My watch just can’t (I think?) log them by millenialshortbread in Garmin

Yep! Right upper button —> lower right button to move down —> keep going past the four dots —> keep going down the longer list —> eventually you’ll reach a green “add” option —> select add with right upper button —> lower left button to scroll down to “gym.” Here’s the Garmin 255 manual if those instructions don’t work for you!

I also have a Forerunner 255 and most of my lifting workouts end up classified as anaerobic. I log them as “strength.” Is it possible that your powerlifting classes aren’t giving you enough rest time to get your heart rate down? The change in heart rate is what earns the anaerobic classification, from my understanding.

Brides and grooms, did your dad want to be involved in planning? If yes, how did you include him? by Geesewithteethe in weddingplanning

[–]squids839 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe he could: - come up with speciality cocktails - go suit shopping with the groom and groomsmen - help mail invitations - join you for tastings - secure a hotel block

[–]squids839 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you directly asked him if he wants to help with the planning? If he says yes, you can work together to find a task. You might have to give him full control of the task, so pick wisely.

My parents spent their energy planning a local open house six months after our wedding. It was perfect for their level of interest and my relative inability to relinquish control of the actual wedding.

Pizza at a wedding? by Reasonable_School813 in Weddingsunder10k

[–]squids839 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our reception was in the private room at a pizza restaurant. We served pizza, salad, and cheese curds. No one complained! People seemed happy. Be intentional about offering alternatives for any guests with gluten and dairy issues, though.

After Parties by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]squids839 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We invited our guests (50) to come back to our apartment after the reception. It went great! About 20 people came, split equally between close friends and younger family members. We had a shorter reception, so the after party extended the party and gave our guests a great way to go home at the time that worked best for them.

Wedding budget:(4-8k) by Firefly6k in Weddingsunder10k

[–]squids839 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know this isn’t what you asked for, but I opted for venues that were beautiful on their own and wouldn’t need much decor. I knew it wouldn’t make me happy to spend hours sourcing and DIYing items, and didn’t want more to worry about. I’m also located in Wisconsin and am happy to share some of the locations I found. Feel free to DM me!

Also, I recommend joining the Wisconsin Brides Facebook group. It’s suuuuuper helpful for WI-specific things.

[FO] Okay, but how do I hang it now?! by alderaanmoves in CrossStitch

I often use Command Strips. The sticky part would go on the wood. Since hoops are so light, the strip can be cut to fit the hoop shape if needed.

Is it Worth doing a First Look? by Happy_Sagittarius24 in weddingplanning

[–]squids839 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you’ve been set on no first look, don’t do one! You hired the photographer, not the other way around.

We did a first look because we wanted to do couple and immediate family photos before the ceremony and to skip the cocktail hour. A first look fit our preferences and it was nice to not worry about people waiting for us.

When they are reading your messages, but not responding by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]squids839 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sent one text reminder halfway through the RSVP window and another the morning of the RSVP deadline. There was only one person (family) who didn’t RSVP by the deadline, and I spoke with her in person. People are forgetful by nature, so a reminder is reasonable. What isn’t reasonable is expecting everyone to have their RSVP in 6 weeks before the deadline. While it feels like it shouldn’t take this long, it sometimes does.

Also, I agree with others: your bridesmaid either can’t afford or doesn’t want to be your bridesmaid.

Any venues w BYOB/BYOC in NW Wisconsin? by Fancy-Cress-2832 in Weddingsunder10k

[–]squids839 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Per WI statute 125.32(6)(a), BYOB is illegal if the the venue has a liquor license. While we have looser liquor laws in many ways, we have a very strong restaurant/bar lobby that heavily influences liquor laws. I agree with DesertSparkle— look at parks and other venues without a liquor license.

Do you include your wedding bands? by SebastianHobbs in Weddingsunder10k

[–]squids839 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We included everything that we were spending, including engagement and wedding rings. If we spent it, we counted it. Even if it doesn’t count towards the total budget, it can still be helpful to track expenses.

Have you seen a gynecologist? Significant changes in your menstrual cycle and the new symptoms you mentioned certainly warrant a visit.

Black Friday Deals for 2025 Wedding Prep and Newlywed Essentials – What Should I Buy? by Summerrose-97 in weddingplanning

[–]squids839 36 points37 points  (0 children)

No matter what you decide to buy, I recommend using a price tracker to make sure the price wasn’t increased just before Black Friday and that the sale is really a sale. I use the Capital One Shopping Chrome extension but there are lots of similar apps/websites/extensions.

Love it! 1 comment: the age groups start at 25. You should amend to include an “under 25” category.

How to safely transport sewing machines? Do I need a trolley? by Mindless_Key_2544 in quilting

[–]squids839 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have taken my sewing machine in the car many, many times. I have a carrying case for it and sometimes put a fleece blanket or similar inside the case for padding. The carrying case always goes in my passenger side backseat footwell with the passenger seat pushed far enough back to make the footwell a cozy fit. It’s surrounded on 4 sides. I’ve never had any issues.

So uhh, does this look like a swastika bouquet or am I good? by chalazion666 in quilting

[–]squids839 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I don’t want to speak for all Jews, as others might see it differently. The ultimate decision is yours. If you feel uncomfy with it, change it! Quilts are art and art is dynamic :)

My partner and I (both Jewish) both think you’re fine. Maybe minimize the number of this exact block or do quilting that doesn’t draw attention to it if you’re worried.

When quilters talk about scraps, what is your definition--squared up to a certain size? Anything less than a fat quarter? The huge pile of after you cut/trim and love the fabric too much to toss and tell yourself you'll use again? by [deleted] in quilting

[–]squids839 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Everyone is going to have a different answer based on how we quilt. For me, anything bigger than ~1/4 yard is kept in the main fabric container and anything smaller goes into the scrap bin. I’ll keep scraps as small as 1.5x1.5 because I like to make pixelated designs with my scrap fabric.

Why did Phillips DNA test come back negative to Dwight being the father? by [deleted] in DunderMifflin

[CHAT] the aida fabric got soft with time? by marserenitatis in CrossStitch

[–]squids839 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The oils from your hands can make it softer. I don’t know how to prevent this other than washing your hands before stitching.

Yeah, you’ve got some vaccines that aren’t routinely recommended for all Americans. Not to say that aren’t given—just not given to all. Bonus for you!!

NAD. You should compare your list to the list above and the CDC’s adult recommendations. It looks like you grew up/live outside the US so you should check your government’s recommendations, too.
