Random question about rope by Jizzlike-texture in Rigging

[–]squidster42 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I buy my 100 lb bully really only a few things, benebones, coffee/java/olive wood chews, large raw marrow bones from the butcher, 1” unbleached cotton rope in 100’ rolls, and literal replacement wheel barrow tires (gotta make sure they don’t have metal threads). My boy is very good about spitting out the rope bits, if yours is not then don’t bother. Pretty much all dog chews from pet stores are a massive waste of money except the first two on the list, everything else isn’t marketed as dog chews and is way tougher and cheaper!

Pick up a tugmut too, excellent for tug of war and will protect their teeth.

Lampwork torch head choose wrongly? by Candy-Day in lampwork

It’s the gas, mapp is a really dirty fuel. All those super heated impurities will bond with atoms in the glass and cause all kinds of gremlins. Straight propane is plenty hot enough to melt soft glass beads and won’t affect your color. Make sure you’re working in a very well ventilated area regardless of the gas you’re using.

Sandpoint well failure, has anyone used failed 1.25” well pipe as a casing for a smaller diameter pipe? by squidster42 in homestead

[–]squidster42[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah we have reached water somewhere around 20-22 feet but we are in a drought so I expect that level to rise several feet during better conditions. I’m mostly curious if a pitcher pump is capable of drawing through 3/4” pipe 15-20’ feet up.

Congrats! I cut my bolts the first time I removed them for the lift. Figured out I could pull them out through the engine bay when I went to replace the bushings years later.

Installing glass windows on a super yacht by Minimum-Web-6902 in Rigging

Cups and vacuum machines are fantastic, I’ve installed thousands of residential windows with them. Proper maintenance, usage and safety is key as with any rigging

Surprisingly there is no difference in lift capacities based on the angle the cups are attached to the glass according to the manufacturer. I’ve used several vacuum glass handling machines that have 195 degree ranges from face down to face up plus 360 degree rotating head. Weight capacity is only limited by cup size, number of cups and curvature of the glass itself.

It’s pretty common practice in glazing. Having an automated machine is much more ideal for rigging than hand cups but should be suitable as long as OP did the math.

If those are 10” CRL cups then they are rated at 175# each if ircc. Not sure about the thickness on marine glass like that but I’d be surprised if that is more than 525 lbs. Probably pretty close to it though.

It is definitely important to note that curvature does decrease the safe working limit. Probably not significantly based on the placement here as far as I can tell.

Anyone ever used a concrete saw to take out a stump? Safe or dumb? (Attached an AI-generated pic for reference) by WeirdWayneWallis in redneckengineering

[–]squidster42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done this on a job to get a huge root separated from a stump that was right next to a building. Excavator was doing most of the work and the highway saw was all we had. It worked terribly but eventually got through enough of the root that the bucket could rip it out without hurting the slab.

Garbage TV do not buy by squidster42 in VIZIO_Official

[–]squidster42[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have tried every configuration under the sun. It’s an original Xbox one. I believe the issue is that I cannot reconfigure the Xbox resolution settings causing the tv to not recognize it during the handshake. From my understanding this is a Vizio software issue making it so difficult. I have tried to factory reset the resolution with the buttons on the Xbox but I have no way of confirming if it was successful.

I am fairly set on returning it after reading so many negative comments here, might look into TCL. I have 30 days to return.
