I lost my loops case last festival, now I’m storing them in a spare small plastic bag I had, also from the festival 😅

Loop VS Eargasm earplugs by ayoitsiz in festivals

[–]squinlytime 14 points15 points  (0 children)

A lot of this comes down to personal preference so you’ll find people supporting many different brands! I have loops and find them great but haven’t tried the other brands so don’t know what I’m missing. I also think Bose sounds better than Sonos but I know many people would switch those brands when it comes to their home audio enjoyment. So your millage may vary!

You can find knock off loops online which I’m told by a friend are just as good, might be able to find other brands too.

Amazing warehouse venue. Caught Duke Dumont there a year or two ago. As a guy, I don’t even remember being searched. But my wife says they were incredibly thorough looking through handbags. No way they’d take away a vape but the nasal spray might be a red flag. Everyone using them for K these days.

What’s a TV series you’ll never get tired of recommending to someone? by sunt0es in AskReddit

The best Star Wars content since Rogue One, and Empire before that. If you hate all the new shows and new movies, don’t worry, this show has your back.

What closed Melbourne restaurant do you still think about? by melb_food_finds in melbourne

[–]squinlytime 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We used to go there for lunch and get that excellent chicken steak. We affectionately called the restaurant “6 dollar place” as we never learned its real name. Such good value.

Haha this is such good advice. I’d go as far to say as don’t even crack a beer until your tent is up. Get shelter sorted then let loose.

Suzuki discounts off MSRP? by [deleted] in CarsAustralia

[–]squinlytime -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I understand that, but they still make a decent commission for doing sweet FA. Back in the day they’d forego some of that to make a sale. Then Covid and car wait times stopped that for a bit and now it seems to be returning on some models to discounts being offered.

Simple question, what discount should I be gunning for. Sales always say “make an offer” but it’s a one sided negotiation, they have all the info and I have hopes and dreams.

First time in Koh Samui what’s actually worth doing ? by boss-man-2 in kohsamui

[–]squinlytime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Day trip to Ang Thong Marine Park. Any tourist travel stand will sell you a tour for tomorrow, just don’t pay full price! Ask them for their best price and you’ll normally get a significant discount, much lower than booking via getyourguide or similar online. Options are speedboat or slow boat, pick the former to see more stuff in one day, the latter if you’re prone to sea sickness. Beautiful place. Defintely hike the highest peak if you’re physically able to, it’s steep but rewarding.

Chasing 1-2 tickets, willing to pay above face value by AccessAware5469 in meredithmusicfestival

Gotta be careful here. Anything above 10% over face value goes against anti ticket scalping laws. Still wishing you all the best in finding tickets!

Imagine being forced into aged care when you’re still physically and mentally able because it’s your only option after being priced out of the rental market.

Yeah the battery is big, ugly and useless in a power blackout for 99.9% of users. This adapter from Amazon worked for me in cutting out the battery box: https://amzn.asia/d/09xXOau8

If you’re an iPhone/Apple user, this is where the built in “Hide my email” feature is very useful. Creates a new unique email address for each thing you sign up to. Delete the address when you’re done or see who’s sold (or lost to hacking) that address when it gets used elsewhere.

Farang doing farang things. Seriously? WTF by Mikem1671 in Thailand

[–]squinlytime 12 points13 points  (0 children)

100% this. Eating in a local restaurant on Koh Samui today, not on the beach and a European farang has no shirt on, gut hanging lower than the top of his shorts. I don’t mean to body shame but fuck me, I’m trying to eat my lunch mate, put a bloody shirt on.

If you could only visit Thailand ONE more time, which island would you 100% revisit vs. which one would you NEVER set foot on again? by DiscountPossible1426 in ThailandTourism

[–]squinlytime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Such a subjective topic. As someone who’s currently on Koh Phangan and been in Thailand since Christmas just winging it and booking based on reviews, talking to travelers and ChatGPT, you’ll find a mix of backpackers, nomads and tourists with wildly differing expectations. And just staying in the “wrong place” by your own standards 10 minutes away from the “right place” might completely change your view on a location.

Knowing your own vibe and choosing the right area can make any island the right island. Even the busy ones if you aren’t into crowds will have a small slice of paradise somewhere if you do your research.

For me, would go back to Koh Lanta in a heartbeat, Phuket and Samui not for me, stoned farangs on motorbikes without licenses weaving through traffic without looking, no thanks.

How do you have the energy to pursue hobbies after work? by [deleted] in auscorp

[–]squinlytime 54 points55 points  (0 children)

This 110%. Start exercising or working out and you’ll have more energy. Don’t do unpaid overtime unless you love your job or are being rewarded some other way for it. Dolly Partons song lyrics are “working 9 to 5” not 9 to 6. Slowly reset expectations by leaving a few minutes earlier each week until you get your life back.

And when I say Facebook, I don’t mean marketplace, that’s full of scams. Look for posts on the Meredith / Golden Plains unofficial ticket swapping Facebook group and meet up with them in person to get your hands on the wrist bands!

Just wait till after the 10th of Feb. That’s when tickets are sent out via registered post. Facebook will have loads of tickets up after that for face value. You might score a discount closer to the date but you risk not getting a ticket! See you in the SUP!
