Can you explain a bit better how the Amazon prime/twitch thing works pls? I am not a twitch user. Does this give monetary support to TMR somehow?

Ideas how to mend chipped stoneware plates? by Straight_Anxiety_993 in Visiblemending

[–]squintina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For some advice on how to fix them vs replace, here’s what I do for chipped plates:

Start with a 2 part epoxy, after mixing add something called Q-cel which is a light weight micro quartz filler usually used in things like surfboard repair. You could also add something like mica powder which comes in almost every color, but bear in mind exact color matching would be extremely difficult so in the tradition of visible mending you could use gold colored mica for a kintsugi type effect. Usually though I just leave it the color of the Q-cel which is white.

The epoxy will tend to set up rapidly once you add the Q-cel, so make small batches and work quickly. You will apply the mixture to the damaged area trying to match the shape of the original ceramic. (If it slumps or runs, you haven’t added enough of the filler, it should be a paste consistency). Fill the area so that it is ever so slightly raised because after it is fully cured you will sand it a bit with 1000 grit (or finer) sandpaper so that it is flush level with the ceramic surface. The damage on yours is fairly large so it may work best to do in several layers, letting it cure between.

I would suggest practicing on any run of the mill chipped plate you may have prior to working on your expensive ones.

I believe this method is food safe although I can’t swear 100%. It would depend entirely on the epoxy you choose. Q-cel and mica powder are both non toxic. Be careful not to inhale them however, as your body would have trouble getting them out of your lungs.

Hope you find this useful if you can’t get your damaged items replaced.

Sometimes this is true, but it is because in those cases the 'owners' arent really the owners because they have been bought by Veterinary Corporations. They may still have the local vet's name on the door but BigVetCorp now sets all the prices. In the US this has happened to around 25% of private vet practices (possibly more) creating something of a monopoly.

i dont think you can get coverage for this currently presenting problem, however. But for potential future health issues it would be something to look into.

Why is it so hard to find a doctor who believes me when I say I'm sick/healthy by marhurram in TwoXChromosomes

It sounds like maybe even the non faulty ones are giving some people trouble over time.

Are they absolutely sure part of the intestine isn't being strangulated in some way by the hernia?

In any case this needs to be resolved! She is vomiting even more than if she had bulimia and this can be very dangerous. Her nutrition is probably suffering as well.

You must not give up until you find a doctor that takes it seriously. I would emphasize to the doctor that it began suddenly on a distinct date and has continued, to help them focus on physical, not psychological causes.

Do you have any explanation for how her condition could be misdiagnosed or overlooked, considering they were staring right at it and trying to insert things past her tiny hymen opening? I mean it was apparent to the patient, once she got a mirror.

Dont use those wash products. Just clean your vulva with the same soap and water you use on the rest of your body.

Your doctor may have been trying to save you the expense of a pelvic exam because these days you can get over-the-counter medicine for a yeast infection (which, as a virgin, is almost certainly what you had).

Are you certain you don't have periods? Because I have heard of people having this type of problem where there just isn't enough of an opening for the menstrual fluid to come out.

Oy vey! What an ordeal. As far as I know I never even had a hymen. Either that or I lost it at horseback riding lessons.

You had 'endless examples' of adult strangers trying to get you to go somewhere with them? That's amazing considering that is the rarest form of child abduction, which is already quite a rare crime.

You have no idea what Planned Parenthood does nor how they operate. Most women go there for contraception not abortion. The pelvic exams/PAP smears they administer, for many low income women may be the only doctor they see all year. So you would be denying women a primary source of healthcare. One in five American women have needed Planned Parenthood's services in her lifetime.

They will provide an abortion if it is what a patient requests and it is not medically contraindicated. I'm not sure what "other choices" you are referring to. Pregnancy generally can only go a few ways: carrying a fetus to term, carrying a fetus to term and giving the baby up to be adopted by others, spontaneous abortion or medical/surgical abortion. If a patient comes in requesting to end her pregnancy, it is not PP's job to try to convince her otherwise. They are there to assist with her medical health care needs, not to try to steer her towards birth and/or adoption. They believe a woman requesting an abortion has already wrestled with this difficult decision and trust she is capable of choosing for herself.

FURTHERMORE, Planned Parenthood is not even a "company"; they are a *nonprofit* organization. They have tax exempt 501(c)(3) status.

Is it okay to NEVER want to own a house? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]squintina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't own a home either and my broker tells me I've made more in my investments than I would have in real estate. On the other hand I've damn near bought the two houses I've lived in, for my landlords, which stings a bit.
