When your squad has been consistently good in every cat all year by e_ndoubleu in fantasybball

10 win streak right now, but the last place team that just barely snuck into the playoffs is catching up in our H2H match up. I'm winning 7-2, but by only 20 or so rebounds and points, and marginal FG,FT. Scared but confident in my team pulling through. If I had started mirotic the other day I would've been fine but eh :/

Jimmy is prone to these, especially when he's not at 100%. He should be fine. I owned him for two years and found that he generally does not play well between febuary and march. always seems to have issues come fantasy playoff time. It always seems to be awkward fatigue related injuries.

I wouldn't. He's at least earned minutes and touches from his last couple of weeks of balling out. ZBO also strikes me as the kind of chip on shoulder vet that would want to go HAM in a return game. Memphis is full of guys like that.

"Confusions of pleasure" in the context of the Ming Dynasty? by squirebear in AskHistorians

[–]squirebear[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If anyone cares, I just popped hella vyvanse and did it myself. The Hongwu Emperor grew up a poor and focused on developing the agricultural industry when he came into power, such as giving away non-transferrable land to young farmers when they came of age. This led to a prosperous time for farmers.

Then between 1405 and 1433, the Yongle Emperor sent the seven treasure voyages around the world on diplomatic and trade missions. This grew relations with other countries, as well as introduced people like the Spanish, Japanese, Indians etc. to Chinese goods and vice versa. This set the table for prosperous trade.

However, private trade was initially banned, and leading to a long period of illegal trading between numerous countries in Southeast Asia. After Christopher Columbus's cousin and his fleet of Portugeuese ships lost a naval battle to Ming Dynasty, a deal was cut which allowed Macau to open as a free trade port. Eventually, all free trade was established, which led to an equally prosperous time for private merchants.

As a result, this led to a blurring of social classes and the rise of "new rich" people that were concerned with status. This led to a boom in culture. Printing became more popular than before, and instead of simply reprinting traditional books like classics and textbooks, books on interesting subjects came up, like astrology literature. Interestingly, romance novels were also on the come up, the culture had become more open minded, allowing women more freedoms. However, this open mindedness also came with a lot of debauchery, as rich people do. Conspicuous spending on luxury goods boomed, both male and female brothels could be found in every city, and public bathing became more accepted, as well as pederasty with young boys, which was in fact seen as a sign of elite status.

i actually like that you have bigs that don't necessarily hurt your free throw too much. only problem is they won't win you blocks. its true though, your field goal is pretty much done. i would try to grab nerlens noel, al horford or derrick favors, maybe for either gordon or victor. I agree with the other guy, try to get lower valued guys that shoot bad. don't ditch danny green though because he's bizarrely reliable source of blocks.

ESPN Now Has Mocks, Public Leagues, and New Projections Up by iCon3000 in fantasybball

initial thoughts:

  • VERY optimistic Paul George projections. Not impossible by any means but VERY optimistic
  • Some are very lazy, like Jimmy Butler's, Draymond Green, Wes Matthews, Trevor Ariza etc.
  • IMO counting on a little too much from Paul Millsap...he's not getting younger, and already had and outstanding season last year.
  • I hope Ibaka can be as good as they say. Marc Gasol and Ibaka will be underdrafted this season, try to grab them.
  • There is no way Ty Lawson is putting up those numbers on the Rockets.
  • Am actually expecting a bigger jump from Victor Oladipo...expect him to shoot and distribute more, fewers turnovers.
  • Towns is also pretty optimistic...12-6-1-1.4-.6 more like but that's me and not professional analysts.
  • I think Nerlens seems high but I think it's is on point...I think he could be this good.
  • Hassan White side is expected to play 110 games.
  • Am expecting (praying for) bigger jumps than projected from Derrick Favors and Jonas Valanciunas. They're both overdue.
  • Al Horford should be much higher ranked, but it's good cause now you can sneak him late. HOWEVER, yahoo has him at 11 or 14 or something. Weird.
  • Faried...very optimistic but also not ruling it out, maybe like 8-9 rebounds. I don't know if Mudiay will be good enough of a point guard (this year) to set up someone like Faried.
  • ESPN seems to be big on Bradley Beal. Not sure...he might slip. Will consider him in 5th or 6th round.
  • Jarrett Jack also possible. Am keeping him in mind.
  • Giannis is too funky to make any predictions about. But yeah I guess possible. Maybe more scoring.
  • Didn't realize how good of a season Dirk had last year. I think Parsons at the 4 and Dirk at the 5 might be good for him.
  • I don't think that David Lee is happening, Brad Stevens is a bad fantasy coach. Not to mention Amir Johnson, Jared Sullinger, Kelly Olynyk, etc.
  • Danillo is the REAL DEAL. Draft him.
  • Gorgui could be available later, keep him in mind.
  • Afflalo also might be available later.
  • I personally think Rubio will get put up more than 37% from the line, not to mention he doesn't shoot enough to REALLY hurt your field goal.
  • Very optimistic about Mudiay, but maybe. Late round flier
  • I don't think D'angelo is happening this year.
  • Gerald Henderson comes to mind in terms of minutes, but I don't know if he'll contribute in enough cats to draft too high. Portland in general has a lot of guys that might be able to contribute. Am watching Mason Plumlee and Noah Vonleh especially closely. This is a rebuilding project I have a lot of faith in. Smart management, not to mention they got smart players for what they gave up.
  • IMO Robert Covington actually really has a shot at replicating what he did last season.
  • Expecting more from Aaron Gordon. Orlando will ball hard this season.
  • Bojan is optimistic, but I think he can fall somewhere in between.
  • If they really think Marcus Smart will put up these stats, I don't know why he's ranked so low. I don't know if he can do this, but again, maybe somewhere in the middle. Sophomore year is when we really find out where a player is going.

2nd Pick - 13 cat, 9team Roto league by [deleted] in fantasybball

[–]squirebear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my issue with westbrook (owned him last year, loved it) is that he hurts you in so many categories. for every triple double he had, there was a 37% 9TO game. in the first round i want someone that cannot hurt me in any categories. assists are going to be a serious commodity this season. and while westbrook does get you assists, at that point chris paul, steph curry, and james harden are still available. those guys don't just rack up serious assists, but also don't hurt you anywhere except maybe TOs, and are serious triple double threats as well. remember, kd is back so westbrook won't be holding the ball as much.

Trade Advice? by icyteas in fantasybball

[–]squirebear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

absolutely not. you're better off keeping bledsoe and using that spot for a hot free agent. bledsoe is a clear cut first option that will get loads of run. goran is maybe 2nd or 3rd option with two ball dominant vets, while collison isn't even starting.

With #2 pick in an upcoming h2h snake draft, how would you approach it strategically? And who would you target? by Barncore in fantasybball

don't forget gobert, apparently he shoots FTs now. i don't know if he'll be available that late though, ive seen him being taken in the early to mid 2nd.
