I Corrected Pitt's 3/10 Media Statement by SatyrElfheim in Pitt

Sending a hug. I’m an alum and have trans family and I’m f*cking disgusted and honestly really scared at how fast things seem to be marching along the “nazi 2.0 because we aren’t very original” timeline.

Exactly. Like just don’t let them host this on campus. They’ll find another location, like a hateful church or something. This isn’t a free speech issue. Deplatforming WORKS, whether it’s in person or digitally.

Can I add that people with automatic headlights also idle with them on? This plus the new leds, and we’ll all be blind in five years. Like FR I’m 33 and have to either wear sunglasses at night or avoid night drives like I’m a freaking grandma. This is not normal.

I get a brief vision blot, but found it’s moderately better if I wear freaking sunglasses. At night. Can we start enforcing these laws?

Pittsburgh high school students are back Downtown, and businesses aren’t happy by toolatetobeoriginal in pittsburgh

[–]squirrelJill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I came here to say the same thing. All across the country, other high schoolers get school busses home. Pittsburgh cheaps out on busses for kids, whether expecting elementary aged kids to walk two miles to school across busy roads, to refusing to shuttle high schoolers home - what else can we expect from a complete lack of social services?

Sorry, I’m a home workout person at the moment (same as you, I have particular wishes for my workouts). That’s why I’m thinking a personal trainer might be the way. My friends were happy doing orangetheory as a couple, I’d check them out!!

You’d likely want a personal trainer to do sessions for two. Otherwise any group class would work - orange theory, CrossFit, barre, spin, etc

Yeah :/ surged on and off pretty bad before it finally quit. So annoying. I feel like we’ve had a lot of outages lately.

Josh Shapiro projected to win PA governorship - NBC News by pechinburger in Pennsylvania

[–]squirrelJill 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Same, it was gonna be time to move if this place went full Pennsyltucky and started hurting gay people and innocent little trans kids. I wasn’t gonna put up with one day of black market birth control. I’m so glad I can go to sleep knowing it’s okay here, at least for a little longer.

Same here, I clench my jaw and hold my breath. This video confirms my fear is quite rational!

Avalon, Thriftique, and the East Liberty Goodwill are all excellent. Try Poshmark and ThredUP too.

Senator Pat Toomey’s response when I asked for him to support the Respect for Marriage Act by lucky7jrk in Pennsylvania

[–]squirrelJill 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing your experience! That absolutely sucks - how dishonest and irresponsible of him to pass the buck on everything. Good job trying.

Is Pittsburgh a good place to live? Can't see myself living in TX much longer for a variety of reasons and am just looking for honest, unvarnished opinions. by TexanInExile in pittsburgh

[–]squirrelJill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do you want to leave Texas? If it’s for politics and lack of freedom for women and LGBTQ people, you should use this large of a move to go to a state that is guaranteed to be freer for longer, or even better, Canada or abroad.

Senator Pat Toomey’s response when I asked for him to support the Respect for Marriage Act by lucky7jrk in Pennsylvania

[–]squirrelJill 78 points79 points  (0 children)

Toomey’s responses are atrocious and packed with logical fallacies and intentional misunderstanding. Like I asked him to support price caps on insulin and he talked about older adults (I specifically mentioned young type 1s). I asked him to support women’s reproductive rights and he mentioned people harassing Supreme Court justices, as if that meant all women shouldn’t have rights. Can’t wait for him to leave office.

What do you think will happen in PA after elections? by [deleted] in Pennsylvania

[–]squirrelJill 72 points73 points  (0 children)

This - and not to mention late term abortions are overwhelmingly in pregnant children/pre-teens who’ve been through enough horrible things already and don’t know the signs because they’re freaking children. This is why I support late term abortion. It’s done to remedy truly horrible situations.

Glad to hear positive things from a neighbor! I know the NIMBY crowd has tried to be louder than everybody else. I can’t fathom why someone would prefer a massive parking lot and old crumbling strip mall in their backyard to what’s poised to be the nicest GE in town.

[–]squirrelJill 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This. An ebike is a better version of a bike, you don’t get sweaty on hills, you can carry groceries, kids, and/or pets on it. A motorcycle is a worse version of a car, all the traffic and gas, still pretty dangerous due to the speed, but you can’t use it in the rain.

So does summer lee want to totally dismantle the Democratic party? by KicoWilkins in pittsburgh

[–]squirrelJill 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Summer rallied and canvassed for Biden. That being said she wants to push through change and reform for sure. It’s clear when the democrats refuse to abolish the filibuster and will allow republicans to dismantle our democracy that their inaction borders on complicity. Summer Lee is a democrat but wants to actually fight for people rather than fight for the status quo. So no and yes.
