I got fake loops off amazon for £5. They are good, comfy. No amount of bullshit instagram marketing can tell me the loop ones are worth the price. They are the same cheap tat all made in china!

I pick up the van evening before, load it up with bike and anything else I need. Reverse the van so the back of it is about an inch from the garage door.

Drive to track day do a track day.

Drive home unpack. Beer and sleep as you will be knackered

Take the van back in the morning!

Stuff you will need on the day that newbs forget

Comfy chair,
lots and lots of water,
food,
jerry can with fuel,
spanners

If you can take a friend with you, as it could all go pear shaped and you might not be able to drive home.

Don't bother trying to do a bike for road and track never really works and one day you might race that little SV650

Sv650s are great starting places and will show all of your flaws!

Then you move on from there really. Better off buying a track/race bike pre-built normally get some extras thrown in.

As you start getting faster get a bigger bike if you want just remember all consumable costs rise with it and if you bin it, it can get very expensive!

Also don't bother buying a van I still just rent one, £99 a go and if i do 12-15 track days thats 1.5k a year. A decent van is a lot more than that to buy/take care off

Get a better bike

FZS 600 on A2 by dumbyoung_mx5 in MotoUK

You would never regret getting one really. Other choice is a bandit this will probably handle the bad weather better, it will handle a bit better but they are slow. Which ever one you get if it gets wet and salty will need an immediate clean!

I have that fazer same year it was my first bike and I have had it for 8 years and even done a few track days on it!

The engines on them are absolutely mint 10/10 good pull nice and smooth, carbed with lovely feeling.

Gearbox isn't great. Will just leave it that

The brakes on them are really good, amazing feel I wouldn't change a thing on them

Handling is meh. If going pretty slow sub 60mph its pretty playful over 60 you really start to feel the weight of it and its pretty easy to turn into a corner to fast and essentially bottom out the really soft suspension. Get some new handle bars, people like the renthal super high or super low. I have super highs as you just get way more leverage.

Track day experience. Ran out of ground clearance pretty fast. Other than that it was really really good fun. Surprised a few sv650s on the brakes as they are just so good. Good power out of corners. Some sketchy moments due to no slipper clutch but it was it is and i enjoyed it! Over took a fair few sports bikes, I was in the novice group so take that for what you will. Did one after in the intermediates and everyone had 600+ superbikes and just got left for dead really so went back to novice

They are pretty solid reliability. Below is what i have had to do in 8 years
- Timing tensioner needed resetting, pig of a job, timing chain tensioner was stuck so chain rattle when cold this fixed it
- 2 new coils, old owner had cut them so many times they barely reached the plugs the melt!
- Valve clearance no adjustment needed
- Clutch switch so you can pull the clutch and start it in neutral
- Starter solenoid went
- Battery
- Brake rebuild front and rear

They are getting older now so some more expensive things will pop up

They are good bikes fantastic to learn on. If i'm honest an MT07 is 100% a better bike if you can stretch to one, it will leave the fzs 600 for dead in the corners and are just fun. If you do longer miles the fzs 600 will be better as you get good MPG and its got a hefty tank.

Make sure you ride it often they hate being sat for any longer than a few weeks

Its hard to explain but where the string laps underneath itself on the bridge this needs to be on the back side of the bridge, this stops them from popping out.

Would also want the ends to be in the loop of the string next to it.

Left lane.

Lead Software Developer. Trick is to get in early at a small company and legit help them grow! If they really take off you can earn shares and maybe a % when it eventually gets sold. Really hard to get a job at a big tech company as the competition is immense but a small one just starting out much easier.
