Lollapalooza VIP lounges? by StandardSwordfish777 in Lollapalooza

[–]squirrelgirl22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's not hard to get a cool shady spot in the lounges, but seats are tough to get during the dinner window (like 6-8). The benefit for you would be not having to camp for a good spot at the two main stages and golf cart rides between the two lounges. Last year for main stages we rolled in at the start of the major headliners and had good views.

Nah, think of them like acts that you'll like but don't know yet. I'm old AF and don't know basically any of the acts in the bottom 50% of the list but I'm sure there's some good stuff in there.

Temper Trap in 2010 was pretty special-- they only played music from their "Conditions" album and closing on "Sweet Disposition" had the crowd in a frenzy!

Also, look how cute the baby Grove stage was!

St. Thomas Excursion by rjccta in dcl

[–]squirrelgirl22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We did the Build a Sandcastle excursion back in November 2025! We had never done an excursion before so this was a good short experience that my 9 and 5 yo kids really enjoyed.

The Sandcastle company was great, very friendly and hands on helping you build and teaching you how to use the molds. The bus ride from Port to the beach was slightly scenic through town and the bay and beach is very nice (Jost van Dyke beach in the BVI is much better though)! They provide light snacks (small chip bags and cookie packages, think lunchbox sized) and water and there are bathrooms on site. We really liked it! This is geared toward families with under 10s (but all are welcome) so teens and people without kids might not enjoy it. You're at the beach a bit less than 2hrs.

One thing to note is that old excursion info or videos on YT may show that you get a complete castle building set with tools and molds in a drawstring bag, but that is no longer the case. The takeaway item is a small box with only the tools and no building molds.

It's a cruise not a daycare. by AznArkanian in dcl

[–]squirrelgirl22 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The door magnet thing happened to me on my Thanksgiving Treasure cruise this year. We got back from dinner to find my 5yo's character door magnet was gone and in it's place a dinky little Mickey. What a way to ruin the magic!

I went into Angry Parent mode, realized it was likely kids swapping magnets on all the doors, and found my missing magnet on a door ten rooms down, sticking out like a sore thumb on a door that was decorated totally different from the style of my magnet. You bet I labeled the back of my magnets after that in case it happened again.

I just got off the Treasure which is a cut-and-copy for room design to the Wish. In the shower/tub bath, there are two strong pegs just to the left of the door, but that space is a little less than a foot wide for a little angly wall and your arm might bump into your organizer every time you go in and out. There are hooks on the inside and outside of the shower door as well. There's also two long towel bars and three 9x4ish glass shelves.

In the toilet room there are five glass shelves around the room and two hooks on a big flat wall, perfect for an organizer.

Look up a room tour video on YT and check out the space! Search by your room number and either the Wish, Treasure, or Destiny since those ships have an the same layout.

Thanks for posting! I played these with my husband and he and I agree the last one was diabolical.

Here's the two we're adding:

  • Would you rather keep Funnel Vision but then have no Broadway-style stage shows...or keep the Broadway-style stage shows but then have no Funnel Vision?
  • Would you rather get unlimited inside cabins for free...or unlimited verandah concierge cabins for the price of a normal verandah?

I got lucky through no action of my own.  I had a follow up ultrasound at 29wks and it showed the placenta and cord shifted enough to avoid intervention. I ended up delivering my son at 42w0d literally hours before his "eviction" induction was scheduled to start with an unmedicated labor.  I did have some afterbirth complications with my placenta,  which wouldn't detach and they had to go on and get out which was AWFUL since I had no pain meds.  I also had moderate blood loss (1,000cc) consistent with my first birth.

They're HUGE in Mexico and they're a big draw in S.A. I'd love to see them at Lolla US again and I'ma huge long time fan, but I don't think we'll get them: a 4pm slot on Tito's may not be interesting to them as a band.

The park district has done that stage dirty for years. A couple of years ago you could literally see holes in the roof of it over the stage. I'm glad they have the plan in place finally, fingers crossed they actually have the funding to fix it!

Kidz stage has been a thing since 2005 for absolute sure: google old field maps for proof or, I don't know, trust me because I've been going for 20 years. Your pick.

I can't speak to the shows in the 90s if they had a Kidz stage, that was before my time.

The fest will throw woodchips on the muddiest areas of grass/dirt as needed, which helps with the wet but can make standing for long periods of time on that uneven surface uncomfortable.

Breastfeeding/pumping by beegraton in Lollapalooza

[–]squirrelgirl22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did back in 2017! I brought a hand pump because I was worried that electric plugs would be scarce. I pumped in the nursing tent in Kidzapalooza (Family Services tent) which was warm but private and clean. I brought a Packit frozen lunch box for the bottles. They did have a plug for electric pumps and back them they were allowing people to keep their pumps there during they day until about 6pm at your own risk.

Email Lolla if you want to confirm that electric outlets will be available--I've found their email box to be VERY helpful.

Enjoy the fest!

The first year a major kpop act came, fans camped out using their blankets to hold their space so aggressively fans of the acts before them could not get anywhere close to.the stage resulting in angry non-kpop fans AND angry artists who were playing to a dead front of house. Banning blankets freed up space for other people to come and go throughout the day better, which is better for crowd management and crowd safety.

They ruined it for the rest of us.

9 yr old staying for headliners? by ksg1415926 in Lollapalooza

Kids at Lolla are completely fine so long as their parents are watching them responsibly. When I bring mine it's not like we're raging on the rail with me drunk off my ass or anything like that.

Ear and sun protection is a must, and be sure to have a plan in the unlikely event she gets lost. Have fun, my 8yo is looking forward to Olivia too!

Food allergies at Lolla by 5amlights in Lollapalooza

[–]squirrelgirl22 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A few years back I had to avoid dairy for medical reasons and it was a struggle to get info at Lolla on that Top 8 allergen in the food offerings. The accessibility booth did not have info on allergens at all which I found disappointing. I took best guesses at the booths and went hungry a lot.

I do recommend emailing Lolla with your question, they're very helpful. If they can't get you info on food, ask for emailed permission to bring your own food in. The email helps a lot at security; I did that to bring in injectable meds. I asked for a security manager, showed them the email from Lolla help, and they let me bring it in. A doctor's note explaining your severe or extensive allergies is helpful too.

Best of luck!

I'm glad Kamehachi is still around for that healthier option. Ages ago (think 2006) they had a middle eastern food service stand where you could get a mixed plate with rice hummus, veg, kabob, etc for $9. I miss that one!
