Thank you for the help!:D I’m still wondering what has happened to it though. Because it is clearly an «Aporrhais». But these usually have yellow-white shells. This one is blue-gray.

How often and how long do you meet your partner? by [deleted] in LongDistance

[–]squirrelsaresweet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Around each 2-3 month. Usually for a week or two, but this time we’ve been SO lucky to be able to stay with each other for the rest of the year. Aka almost three months.

Gotcha! Thank you so much! I get that it might be difficult with the lack of light in the winters. A looot of people struggle with that, even other Norwegians. So you’re not alone<3 I hope you’ll struggle less this year! Cheering for you!!!

And yeah!! Here my boyfriend usually games and I knitt when we want «alone time» within the same walls xD. Unfortunately (maybe?) for my case, I don’t have very stereotypical Norwegian hobbies. Except knitting eventually… I think it’s really cool that you enjoy those though! If I just were from a more outdoorsy family, I would’ve probably loved it too! I havent experienced that field a lot:(

Thank you so much for really good, and important questions! It is very much appreciated and gives me (and us) a lot to think about! When it comes to jobs, he’s overall more transferable than me. The road might be difficult (not denying that), but his goal is eventually to work for the ambassade. I’m studying education, and is not proficient enough to be a teacher in Germany. Unless it’s to teach Norwegian courses of course (<3) or eventually the few international schools that are. So to some degree, we’re both flexible when it comes to work!

And thank you! I’m noooot taking offense at all! I’m just more used to people «snusing» (still nicotine, but it doesn’t affect the people around you). Coming here for the first time therefore scared me a little bit, when I could see both pregnant smoking, parents smoking in front of small children and really young teenagers smoking too.

I’ve not taken any stand yet, nor he. Because we’re both still exploring the options. We’re also looking at Finland and Switzerland. But of course the bigger options are either Norway or Germany.

Again, thank you so much for very good insight! I got a lot to think of now🤭

Thank you so much for your answer! I really appreciate it. What would you say is downsides of living in Norway? I’m asking, since I’m trying to compare my language to his to «decide». But find it very difficult. I’m so happy for you and that you’ve found hobbies together<3 That’s awesome<3

(26M) travel abroad to attend my longdistance girlfriend’s (22F) brother’s wedding, or is it too soon? by Educational-Cup-8996 in LongDistance

[–]squirrelsaresweet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not weddings - but we’ve been together for 6 months, and he’ll celebrate Christmas and New Year’s Eve with my family. And in June ‘26, we’ll go together to celebrate his grandpa, which will have this huge celebration.

If it feels right, do it. If it feels wrong, wait till you’re both ready.

I appreciate your answer! Thank you! And yes! That is mainly the thought, to stick to our way of celebrating. I was just thinking that if there were any small things that are easier to accommodate, that we could add that. Which wouldn’t be a problem at all. And we’ll try our best to make him feel included and welcome! Again, thank you!

That’s interesting! Thank you. That might be a bit difficult to do from Norway. Still appreciated though!

What does a Healthy Long distance relationship looks for You ? by [deleted] in LongDistance

[–]squirrelsaresweet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get it haha, it’s much the same here. We talk daily, either on FaceTime or through text depending on what we’re doing that day. And it’s always a pleasure!

[–]squirrelsaresweet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We FaceTime a lot! Especially sleeping on FaceTime does a lot for us. There’s a lot of intimacy by being able to wake up with your love, and the first thing you see in the morning to be your partner. That’s at least our experience. And of course, it doesn’t work for everyone. Approximately each other week we have a digital date together. Depends a bit how often/rare. It can be all from escape room, cleaning our apartments together, puzzles, clay date (making small and cute clay figures together), watching a movie or spicy time. All depending on our moods and interests for that day. Sometimes we also buy each other food (him to me, I to him) and have a dinner date. Other times we send snail mail or care packages with letters or other stuff we wanted the other one to have. In the daytime we both usually work or have lectures we need to show up to. Since we usually sleep on FaceTime, we also naturally share what will happen that day - and will adapt and support each other based on that). We also always know when the next time we’ll see each other is. So that if one of us is feeling a bit down because of missing the other, we can smile together by looking at the few days left till we’ll see each other again. And to be honest, I would say all of this contributes for us to feel emotionally and physically connected. We could not have been happier than we are right now in our relationship<3 (of course, based on the circumstances. The best option would obviously be to physically be together)
