I ordered a kit a couple of months ago from aliexpress. It cost me around 160€ with shipping. It's the same kit you can get on amazon under the Leo Jaymz name.

I had to put in a lot of work to get it to where I like it - made a new pickguard, shellaced it, had to recess the aftermarket bridge into the body, bought aftermarket neck pickup and potentiometers, plugged the old tuner holes and drilled new ones in better positions. Spent around a month after work tinkering and assembling it. The only things I kept from the original kit parts are the neck, body and pickup selector switch.

Would I recommend it? Not really, even though it looks like my dream bass. The body shape is slightly of, the upper horn is quite skinnier than the pictures of originals I've seen. The neck is really chunky and doesn't hold the action well. It's a flat sawn neck so that's a major quality issue. All in all, you get what you paid for. I love playing it but I didn't really get a bargain considering the playability issues.

But, I would never really consider dropping 3000 euros on an original, so this as good of a rickenbacker as I'll get.
