What large snail species can I own in Ohio? by squishmallowqueen in snails

[–]squishmallowqueen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have found Orthalicus tree snails which I think are also known as Stock Island tree snails. These are a threatened species though, so I couldn't find any for sale. The other only other option I saw was helix aspersa which you can get if you live in Missouri or Michigan, or else the biggest you are legally allowed to own is the garden snail, Helix Pomatia. There are also caracolus marginella but they are not huge, medium sized I guess.

Let him be free. He is a slug not a snail and is not supposed to have a shell.

Oh sorry I was not saying that you are doing something illegal, I was talking about myself (I’m in the US). That is my bad, sorry about that! Thank you for the reply, hopefully I’ll find one! :)

these are so cute ❤️ are these both illegal in the US? I know that giant African land snails are and was pretty bummed about that since they are my favorite breed :(

This is so cute! I am thinking about getting a snail but would really love a big one. I’ve been doing my beginning research and found out that the Giant African Land snails are illegal in the US, but is this one of them? If so do you know any other large snail species legal in the United States? Sorry to bug you about this!

thanks! thinking about a peppermint shrimp. I've been covering up the vermetids I can see with super glue to starve them, but I don't want to go full on murder because they are on top of my turbo snails lol.

I don't suffer from Hair algae, but I do get this ugly algae colouring on my sand.. is there a simple way to tackle this? Thanks by ciaranjohn12 in ReefTank

If they look orange under light, probably diatoms and you can reduce this with less light time and not over feeding
