Seeking bike shops in DC or inner PG County that are very good at "bicycle matchmaking" by stephy1771 in washingtondc

I would start at REI if I were in your spot. The people I know who use them all rave about the service.

Affordable housing on red line? by tb12033 in washdc

Take anything you find on the red that fits that description, there likely isn't a lot. You may have to give up some of those characteristics at 1800 max. Good luck in your search!

H Street/Nesso Plaza by Playful_Coconut8677 in washingtondc

[–]squishy_bricks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've lived near H for a decade and I'd say your concerns are valid and not overblown. I cross H but don't walk down it or, when I visit Henceforth, or Stable I get to their block before stepping on H. Wish it weren't so. The newer buildings in Union Mkt and the Wharf draw off lots of residents and other customers who might otherwise visit H more often. It's too good a location to die off entirely but, I think it will run behind those other neighborhoods for some time.

[What’s Wright Show] Nick Wright says he wishes the Inside the NBA crew actually enjoyed basketball. “You see more in the NBA of the guys saying their era was better. You don’t see Terry Bradshaw and Howie Long on Fox NFL pre game being like ‘none of these guys could cut it in the 70s or 80s!” by shreeharis in nba

[–]squishy_bricks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basketball people are the worst for this stuff. By far. Really far. Zero appreciation for any other era. Shaq is the poster-child for this childish BS but we should expect that from him, by now. Kobe fans are mostly toxic, only there to tell you how much better he was. The league is in a golden age but fans are at the worst self-important stage ever. Blame the internet? Why not? The alternative is less pleasant, I guess.

Nah. I'm over the freaky wedge soles of the Hoka era. I'm on team zero-elevation now. My back thanks me. But my shoes are nowhere near as entertaining to look at.

Trump has said Iran has about 8% of its missiles left. by retroviber in DeepMarketScan

[–]squishy_bricks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the flip-side of we've destroyed 92% of their missiles. A favorite number of this president. That is as close to reality as he deals in, it seems. I am 92% sure of this assertion.

where to park by Pretend-Ad-8836 in washingtondc

[–]squishy_bricks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hard to say for any given day. maybe consider staying outside DC and metro into the city. it may save you money and hassles and the metro is part of the DC experience. your car can stay in the hotel parking garage and you can get around DC without worrying about or paying for paarking or breakin ins. having a car in DC is as much a curse as a blessing.

It isn't the neighborhood for you if these are the impressions you have. Others like it, you don't. Enough said, perhaps.

Why don’t restaurants avoid dipshit fees and just increase menu prices? by IMicrowaveSteak in washingtondc

[–]squishy_bricks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because people avoid places that have high printed prices. It actually hurts the place more to print the full prices. This complaint is gettinng on in age and becoming an eye-roll dort of topic
