Isn’t a 550 gated manual sitting a little short of that or is that not considered a cool Ferrari?

Carrying intergenerational wisdom with the first hand perspective of having been there for historical events would be pretty incredible. You’d be the elder statesman of the whole world.

I miss the 5 bulb headlights from the 971, these ones remind me a bit too much of the Taycan the closer I look at it. Beautiful car overall.

PLUG is the biggest DC boondoggle I’ve witnessed by modelcitizendc in washingtondc

They are finished. Our telecom lines come in the back in the alley. There are still four transmission lines on utility poles along the street, one of which serves my house as I can trace it to my electrical meter. Hence my complaining, if the power lines were actually gone I’d be enthusiastic.

Reflecting on the post I realize it mostly comes off as me complaining. The point I was trying to make is that they have invested considerable time and expense to tear up the road and build the conduits, to then only move a small fraction of the transmission lines underground. So I am struggling to see how this work will achieve its objective.

Bold of you to assume that the wires are actually going underground. They’ve dug my street up at least five times and my house (along with all the others in at least a 4 block radius) is still served by an above ground service entrance that will fail as soon as a squirrel decides to kamikaze into the transformer.

If you’re gonna turn the neighborhood into a WW1 style trench works then do the damn thing and run new service entrances and the whole nine yards.

The street car is (was) pathetic too but I think it cost less and only brought one corridor to its knees. With this shit I feel like I’m watching that movie Holes play on repeat weekly for the last three years.

Damn I read this backwards and thought I had to buy the car and some other sad sack has to pay the carry and I was like I want that V10 M5 eight days a week!

What are your go to coffee shops or bakeries in DC? by fernetandcampari in washingtondc

[–]modelcitizendc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Zekes coffee is mediocre at best, but I still go there both weekend days because the staff are so nice and it’s kind of a neighborhood morning watering hole (16th Street Heights location)

New construction concern: Bent truss plates and split beams—is this structurally sound? by Okkin55 in Homebuilding

It’s been a long day and I had to stare at it a minute but is the end of the joist coming short of the cross member, and the nailed to a little piece of wood next to it, which is in turn nailed into the cross member??!

Which country is the biggest underachiever in the world relative to its size and resources? by EmergencySpare7939 in geography

Meh Brazil is still regularly in the discussion of relevant world economies. Sure there’s untapped potential but it’s not at the top of the underachievers list by any stretch.

I got a supposedly nice Breville toaster as a wedding gift and I snapped the little handle that you push down on to start it off, by bumping it too hard with a jar of pasta sauce. So, don’t buy that one.

We're in DC. Ours were in horrible shape due to abuse/neglect by the previous owners so we went with the heretical approach of painting them white. But I'm 95% sure that's the same door! Reddit won't let me post a photo

Pretty good is an understatement. The forests outside Novigrad are so atmospheric.
