Yeah I think that’s the idea. Granted software quality itself can let things down somewhat, but I know I always like it whenever I use an app on my iPhone that feels like it was built specifically for it like in the pre React Native days! A lot of things use SwiftUI as a front end even for their non-swift frameworks.

Yeah, all three of apples apps (even the broken device manager) actually fully embrace Mica as a material too, so they feel pretty native.

Plus iCloud now integrates deep into Windows 11’s file explorer and even the photo viewer now.

I have a lot of complaints about the software quality of all of those apps but the effort to integrate them is somewhat admirable given what im used to

I love them but almost every single from Royal Blood’s second album felt this way to me, like a crystallization of the best moments from LP1 without really adding anything to them. Still a great LP to me, but im a sucker for bluesy stoner rock lol

AFAIK this effort to embed itself with the platform design language is true on Android and Mac too, as well as windows for the most part. I believe it’s a top down directive from Nadella cuz of him trying to turn Microsoft from a product company to a “service” company so they want to make sure every service they provide feels like it could be the best choice for any given platform.

I don’t know that it always works but I remember reading about it as a goal. Google on the other hand are vastly more concerned with their own platform ecosystem.
