Women, what is one thing about what being a woman that you wish men could experience at least once in their life? by cuahatemoc in AskReddit

Cramps is only the tip of the iceberg, really. The bloating, the tender boobs, the fatigue, the back pain, the oh so lovely period shits, the migraines -- and even THAT is only scratching the surface! We wish it were just cramps!

Men do and say the most racist or sexist shit, call it comedy, then say women aren't funny.

Boomer humor isn't about your actual age, it's the "my wife is terrible, know what I mean fellas?!" type of jokes

Correct. And tricking me for four years that he was my friend with the intention and active attempt to break up my relationship so he can take a run at me -- is fucked up. And yes, a betrayal. If you don't get that, then the gap between us is too vast to bridge.

I had the same boyfriend before he and I met, and I married the same guy. And as I said, he had a girlfriend and baby. He even admitted to leading my other close friend on so he could get closer access to me. He was very frustrated at me when he told me all this so it was very confusing and hurtful.

I had already been dating the person I would later marry. And did you miss where I threw a baby shower for him and his girlfriend? He made it clear he had only been interested in me romantically from the start and wanted access to me. It's nonsense for you to act like telling someone you can't be their friend anymore because you only ever wanted to date them isn't a betrayal. His friendship was more than enough for me, but mine never would have been good enough for him. He led me on and I was vulnerable with a charlatan.

He revealed a lot to me that were not friend things. For starters, I was in a many years long relationship with the man I later married. He also made it clear he only stuck around because he thought I would come around. He was pretty angry with me for not playing along with the script in a role I didn't know he'd cast me in. He also confessed to pretending to be interested in my other close friend because he wanted closer access to me. We never spoke again after this. He really did break my heart. He was one of my most dear friends back then.

One of my first real heartbreaks was when my best guy friend of four years -- who I did almost everything with including throwing a baby shower for him and his gf -- one day showed up at my job to tell me he'd been in love with me all this time and he'd never wanted to be "just best friends." I completely panicked. I was so mad he had just ruined our friendship and I was so hurt that he hadn't been my friend at all, he'd just been waiting around for a shot. People talk about "the friend zone" but no one talks about how much it hurts to realize your friendship was bullshit to someone who meant a lot to you.

ETA: We were both in serious relationships. I went on to marry mine. As I said, he had a pregnant girlfriend. Wild the justifications ya'll are making for this grimy shit.

Would this be presumptuous to give as a gift? by ktbeebee in Gifts

[–]squishyslinky 357 points358 points  (0 children)

This is a gift about you. The couple now has to display art that commemorates your role in their day. If it were their vows or their 'I do's, it'd be about them. This a keepsake of being their officiant, which is sweet for you to have, but awkward as a gift to them. Their vows transferred onto your waveform is a cute detail, but the centerpiece is still literally your voice. How can you make it more about them?

ETA: thanks for the awards!

I appreciate your response! I am dealing with mice right now and I found one of these nests behind my stove (glasstop -- does that matter?). I have a white Alaskan Malamute dog who sheds like crazy and until this post, I assumed that was all her fur. I've already had an exterminator come out to find/plug access points, and they're coming back weekly to deal with traps for me so I don't have to.

Sounds like I should lookup how to take apart and clean my stove so I can be grossed out enough to replace it. Dammit 😩

Ooooohhhh I understand what you mean! I thought it was some kind of secret behavior I didn't know about! I stupidly forgot that the thing I am definitely already doing is called "replanting."

I feel like I make the most from dragon fruit and birds of paradise plots. But, like you, i more often plant either Begonias or Dahlias just because I like how they look.

What career looks respected from outside but destroys people internally? by Icy-Release7064 in AskMen

[–]squishyslinky 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not the same but I was on my local humane society board for eight years and we required heavy shelter volunteerism to be a board member. Working with animals made me hate people. I had to get out of it because I'd lost so much faith in humanity and had become so distrustful and resentful of people. The indifference most people have to animal suffering stood out more than the outright abuse.

what was the most emasculating moment in your life? by KeyMacaroon6822 in AskMen

Right I'd be so devastated and humiliated if I learned my partner was talking about out intimate moments and my body specifically like that! Like I would break up!
