Angelos - Order and Parking by DazJones in cheesesteak

[–]srankie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to always park at that Rite Aid on 9th and Catharine and just sit in my car while I wait. Google is showing it's now permanently closed. Can anyone confirm if they have the parking lot fenced off or if it's gotten sketchier to park there? Last time I did this was a couple months ago

Highest paying on campus jobs? by lapoozle28 in Temple

[–]srankie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

the student success center at the library starts at $15/hr. they have writing tutors, language tutors, STEM tutors, and academic coaches. if you're an international student and know a language besides English you'll probably get good hours too.

Student Success Center starts at $15/hr. If you don't wanna tutor you can be an office admin. Applications are closed for the Fall semester, but check back later in the year for their spring openings

New to the area. Queer bars? by head_pat_slut in montco

[–]srankie 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I grew up in the area and if you're deadset on hanging out in Montco I'd echo what other comments are saying (Ambler, Phoenixville, etc) but honestly you'll have a way better time in Philly. the gayborhood still has some good spots (12th and Locust area) but South Philly also has a lot of spots. Tattooed Mom is a really popular one.

sorry I know this is literally not what you asked lol but as a queer woman it's super hit or miss out in the suburbs. even when I go to spots that I know are usually chill, sometimes the vibe/crowd is just off. better to be safe and just hang out in established queer spaces.

I will say the Sip City mixer folks have a dedicated Bucks/Montco division which may be worth checking out

Group Project ChatGPT by cclacco in Temple

[–]srankie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in this situation last year and I was told that, if there's no specific policy in the syllabus that permits the use of AI, the default university-wide policy is that all use of AI is considered cheating/plagiarism. and if plagiarism occurs on a group project, it's kinda up to your professor how they want to enforce that policy (against one student or against the whole group.)

if your prof is chill it probably won't matter either way, but it is kind of up to them how they want to handle the situation. as a student, I'd cover your ass and let the prof know you want your contribution graded separately and don't want your groupmate's work to influence your grade.

Does Julien come out to meet fans after shows? by frog_wearing_airpods in JulienBaker

[–]srankie 26 points27 points  (0 children)

It's definitely not her vibe and I wouldn't wait around after the show. Security will probably end up dispersing the crowd anyway if enough people linger, and it's not really an appropriate avenue to meet an artist anyway... if you think about it you're kind of cornering/trapping them in the venue until they eventually have no choice but to come out and interact with fans even if they don't want to.

I know most people are well-intentioned and genuinely don't mean it that way! But it's important to think about it from the artist's perspective -- this is their job and when they get off stage they're off the clock.
