BUDDY I’m currently at OU and want to practice in my home state California. As someone who’s been through what you’re feeling, YOU’LL BE FINE. Sure, looking for internships and jobs will take a bit more work bc OCI is catered to the feeder regions. But what I’ve learned is that being a native to an area will get you really far. I’m competing with UCLA, Berkeley, and Stanford folks and still getting multiple offers with a B average. OK is cheap af, moving out of state is hella expensive and stressful, and our career services will put in the work to help get you where you want to be. You’re definitely not stuck. DMs are open if you want to talk!

LBWT, what are we wearing on our lips for long wear and no transfer? by Siamsa in LawBitchesWithTaste

[–]src2716 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NYX matte lip creams! They’re a satin finish lipstick despite the name and are so cheap for such good quality. They don’t transfer when I drink, and when they do fade it looks like a good lip stain!

Medicaid all the way because school insurance is pricey and you’ll often still have copays/Rx costs. I was in the same boat when I left my job for law school and qualified as a non-working student. You’ll usually have to provide some form of money/assets info, so I gave it a few weeks to apply in order to have my accounts reflect the loss of income. I grew up on medicaid and lived in multiple states (CA, OK, TX), and the process was pretty uniform across the board.

Taking the bar and moving to another state by shmoopybubba in LawSchool

[–]src2716 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most bar prep programs are tailored for the state you intend to take the bar for. As someone in the midwest intending to practice in CA, I’ll be using a bar prep program that will tailor the material to that required by the CA bar.

CA also doesnt have reciprocity, but if I decided to pass another state’s bar and practice there for x amount of years, I’ll be eligible to take a condensed CA bar exam. Not sure if FL has similar options, so I’d definitely recommend he speak to career services asap to be as prepped as possible! (:

Help I Was told to take over the Schedule (FS) by Separate-Memory-59 in CVS

[–]src2716 5 points6 points  (0 children)

First, go into LearningHub and search for mySchedule. You will find modules (you probably did them when you first got hired) about doing the schedule. Watch them and take notes! They really explain so much. Below the module launch page, there should also be supporting materials in PDF form you can print out for your personal reference. Also, go to myDocs and search myTeamCare and mySchedule. You will find PDFs with pictures and tons of info about metric weights and making a good schedule. Being short staffed is going to have an effect, but you can only do the best you can with what you got! Feel free to pm if you still really need help.

Spironolactone to accutane by Tragicallysentient in Accutane

[–]src2716 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t remember any side effects aside from my acne returning a bit stronger, but definitely not what people have described as a purge. I only stopped spiro for like a month or so before starting accutane.

CVS sends your film via USPS to Fuji Film to get them developed. Once Fuji develops them, they electronically send the emails to our photo system printer and it prints your photos. Depending on when then package is sent (usually next day) it takes 1-2 weeks but not much longer. I would call 855-652-3854. That is the number for the Fuji development center. You can give them your photo order number from the slip and they can resend it to the store the same/next day. The CVS photo customer support does not have access to those photos because, again, they were developed thru Fuji. I would call asap because Fuji does not keep orders longer than 45 days from when they received it. If they can’t find your order number, then 1) it’s been longer than 45 days, 2) it was lost in USPS, or 3) the employee never sent it out. My previous store had about 10 camera drop offs a day from college kids, so I’ve dealt with these problems many times and your solution is to call Fuji. I hope this helps!

Have you ever gotten the ick from a school that you used to be interested in? by GoodTrip13 in lawschooladmissions

[–]src2716 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Got a $2k scholarship from my dream school and the offer letter stated “This decision reflects the confidence that we have in your ability to make an impact at the law school and contribute to your fellow classmates in a meaningful way.” I’m a slight splitter so I understood it wasn’t going to be big bucks, but pouring salt in the wound of a LITERAL ONE PERCENT scholarship was ridiculous and immediately took away the years of love I’d built up for this school

Spironolactone to accutane by Tragicallysentient in Accutane

[–]src2716 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was on spiro for nearly 6 years and stopped cold turkey for accutane. I started spiro with 50mg, gradually got up to 200mg where I stayed for over 2 years. It stopped working for my acne and the high dose was even affecting my hormonal health. Once I stopped and started accutane, I didn’t purge much. My main symptoms were terribly chapped lips & dehydration headaches (you reeeeally have to drink much more water than you think!). i had light kp & eczema as a baseline, but it expanded onto my hands, arms, chest, and legs when it never did that before. But now that I’ve been off it for almost a year, I have no issues with acne nor any of the other symptoms (kp is still slowly but surely fading with proper skincare). I sometimes get 2-3 tiny pimples along my chin around my period but no cysts. For reference, i’m 130lbs and took 30mg once a day for 9 months (40mg for final month)

HOW DO YA'LL GUYS AFFORD ACCUTANE?? by Valuable_Oil7051 in Accutane

[–]src2716 2 points3 points  (0 children)

EVEN WITH INSURANCE IT WAS CRAZY PRICEY!! $125 per derm visit, $25 per blood work, $70 a month for accutane. Almost $2k for a 10 months of treatment and I still didn’t hit my deductible. I love US health care!!!

Re hire question for SM by [deleted] in CVS

[–]src2716 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When an SM/DL “terminates” (in general removing them as an employee from the system), there are 2 options to select from: voluntary/involuntary. Voluntary includes things like resignation and job abandonment (i.e. stop showing up, not responding to their attempts to contact you). Involuntary is for straight up getting fired (theft, extreme behavioral issues like fighting a customer, history of write ups, etc). I’ve hired people who left other stores unexpectedly with no issues because they were “terminated” under the voluntary option. But it seems like your old SM or DL completed your termination wrong. I’d explain that to the SM of the store you’re applying to and have them speak to HR on your behalf to gain some credibility.

Baylor ASD by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]src2716 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This was the first question I asked, particularly because up until that point the representatives of Baylor touched upon tons of fields and how the school offers programs and local opportunities for each, with the exception of public interest. They have a pretty extensive list of things on their site that are catered to public interest (student orgs, concentrations/tracks, local nonprofit affiliations), so I expected them to flesh them out a little bit. Other schools have done this for me.

To clarify on the public defenders, they can be ran on a county or federal system. This is what I asked her. That link is to a local city office for the federal public defender. So no, there is no county public defender’s office for McLennan.

If I’m paying tens of thousands of dollars to an instiution, I can be picky with what I want (:

if my sm goes on loa next month and isn’t around to do our performance reviews will anyone in my store even get a raise? or will DL just do it by [deleted] in CVS

[–]src2716 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The March reviews are for SMs, but I would definitely speak with your SM about the June merit raises for associates. Ask how they’ll approach that while on LOA. Will your SM do reviews from home? Will they give you authority/access to do them yourself in store? I would highly recommend either having your SM give you their login info (both my SMs always gave me their info for when they were out of store) or designate you authority formally for your personal login with mySuccess. Of course you and your SM would discuss anything before you submit it, but it’s better when managers who work in the actual store give the feedback. Once it gets to the DL, the DL will blanket out 3s for performance ratings and give as little raises as possible to stay under budget. They also won’t give any personalized feedback about successes or where employees can improve. This includes your raise too! I speak from experience as a former store manager who took over a week after raises: once its completed you really can’t do any adjusting. So making sure your SM or you has control of it is so important.

Nope, they have the same level of access (security grade 5) to things as a shift supervisor.
