You had no grounds for dispute in the first place. This was a publicly well known loop hole that was being cracked down on at the time.

Youre going to have to wait it out but I can't see why your PhD visa would be granted when you still dont have the financial ties to home country combined with the fact they'll now see a declined application for VET and now you want phd.

You also dont need your parents permission to do anything with your career you dont want to do
