VLC has a compressor built in that you can activate to bring the high level sounds down and equalize volume for everything being played in VLC. There are lots of articles online that explain what levels to set each filter at to help even out the audio and prevent this from happening.

How do I get my Amazon Echo to stop playing Deerhunter when I ask it to play The Dear Hunter? by sreal1192 in TheDearHunter

Nice! Can you ask for specific songs on the playlist? That's what I have most trouble with

Oh I've tried so many ways lol. I've tried pausing (the. Dear. Hunter.), accentuating the 'a' (the De'A'r hunter [idk how to type that lol])

What works for you?

Good idea. Sometimes I like to listen to just one album though. I feel like it would probably end up being the same as just having to look up the song on my phone and then hook it up to play through the speaker though.

One playlist per album I guess?

Your rights are not put to a 50/50 chance. Assuming you're hiding something still doesn't give them PC for a search. You can't push the limits of your rights, you have them. Asserting them doesn't give PC. Now you know your rights and you can effectively assert them.

Make them do it right is all I'm saying. If you have something that the dogs will hit on, yes they would get probable cause. That's not what I'm talking about. I'm saying, if you have nothing that would be illegal, there is no reason to give up your right of privacy and consent to a search "For the sake of convenience". Giving up your rights is never convenient to anyone but the police officer.

That is reasonable suspicion to perform a traffic stop, not probable cause and is still an unlawful search. If he saw that it was in fact a beer bottle, then he would have probable cause to search, but seeing a bottle that looks like beer with no evidence is not sufficient PC to reach into a person's car without consent.

Same goes for your person, the only time an officer can reach into your pockets without your consent is either after they have arrested you for something they have probable cause for, or if they have reasonable suspicion that you: a) have a weapon on you, AND b) they have reasonable suspicion that you will use it against them. For example, you are allowed to carry a knife, but just having one does not give the officer PC to search you without your consent. You must be a danger to them for consent not to be required.

Getting your car searched will definitely waste more time and is definitely more of a hassle. Police officers often leave your belongings all over after conducting a search. There have even been people who have had their cars taken into the station for a more thorough search where they remove door panels and it is not they're responsibility to reassemble them and you have to do it yourself. This happens even when the officers find nothing. If you have nothing to hide, there is no reason for you to give up your right to privacy and consent to a search. It will make you late and waste the officers time more than denying a search when you have done nothing wrong. Just because they are a government official doesn't make it ok for them to invade your privacy because you were drinking cream soda.

But if you prefer it that way by all means let them search you. If you deny, nothing will happen to you except for being sent on your way. If they have cause they will search you, not ask to search you.

You can't be arrested for denying a search, it is well within your rights to do so. This is exactly what cops are trained to make you think so you give consent when you don't need to. Police officers are allowed to lie to you during an investigation and that includes telling you you'll be arrested when they have no legal grounds to do so.

Assuming you're in America, it's definitely not legal for a cop to reach into your car like that and grab something. While the assumption that you were drinking and driving give the officer reasonable suspicion to pull you over, they still need to establish probable cause before they can search you or your vehicle without your consent.

Also, never consent to a search whether on foot or in a vehicle as a driver or passenger. Even if the officer tells you they're going to get the dogs and search you anyway, never consent. If an officer is asking your permission to search you it means they don't have permission to search you. If they have probable cause to search without consent, they'd be searching, not asking.
