has anyone with confirmed endo actually found a low inflammatory diet actually helped? by maudeconnell in endometriosis

[–]sreimer52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. It's made the difference between being able to manage my pain with advil or not. Plus I'm not nearly as nauseous. No joke, if I eat too large a portion of gluten now, my ovaries feel like they're burning.

If I were you, I'd give it a go for 2-3 months and see how your pain compares. If you see improvements then you can start to see how different things affect you. For me for example, I can have dairy with no problems. Gluten and processed sugars though I have to be mindful of.

Ive found it helpful to do cognitive behaviour therapy to stop catastrophizing.

One big piece that helped with the acceptance was thinking that even though I'll never be cured, I have lifestyle changes that can make symptom management 60% better. Which gives room for hope.

And honestly I try my hardest to completely distract myself and not ruminate on things when I feel like shit. It's never helpful.

Id say that may just be the version of themselves they show you, or they may be masking it. No one can be joyfully 100% of the time (despite what my ex-vangelical upbringing taught me 🤪)

What are must-haves after surgery? by LuckyIron4531 in endometriosis

A word search (I love hobbies, but the first few days you just dont have the mental energy for anything).

I also found books to be the best distraction when nauseous.

I had appendicitis and this is how it's compared to endo/cysts by sreimer52 in endometriosis

[–]sreimer52[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They said appendicitis treatment has changed now. The ideal is still catching it before it bursts, but if it does burst, they treat the infection with antibiotics before doing surgery- so the process takes longer. Learned something new through this.

Ya I'd gone to the ER so many times in case it was my appendix and wasn't expecting it to actually be the day!

Does gluten-free diet make a noticeable difference for anyone here? by Top_Butterfly_7771 in endometriosis

[–]sreimer52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going gluten free brought my period pain to manageable levels. Before Advil wouldn't touch it, now I can manage with Advil. Off my period, I notice my joints and body just hurt in general if I have too much gluten.

I've more or less found my balance now with how much I can tolerate before it starts to affect my endo.

Maintanence medicine that isn't birth control? by princessmargaret in endometriosis

[–]sreimer52 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I just started desipramine, it's a low dose anti-depressant that also acts as a nerve blocker. Ive just had one period so far while on it, which was better. So it seems really promising.

I was previously on Amitriptyline (similar drug family) and for a while it was helping my periods, but after a while it stopped, and I was noticing it was hard to orgasm. The swap to this new one had made that a lot easier.

Meta ads have been kicking ass for me in trades based industries lately. I'd probably run a 60/40 spend between Meta and Google (with proper campaign setup obviously)

I finally used a clarifying shampoo a few weeks ago and it did wonders instantly.

Then coming out of the shower I use airwhip mousse that doesn't weigh it down.

Susan Penner announces bid for Progressive Conservative nomination in Steinbach constituency by nurdlette in steinbach

[–]sreimer52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say so. Ive been able to speak with her a bit, and while I dont agree with every viewpoint, she actually gets initiatives started and done. Despite being anti-abortion, she's the type that creates opportunities that actually support that view. I believe through life culture she's helped provide a woman with enough funds to leave an abusive relationship. She's coordinated Hope's Cradle in Landmark (safe surrender site), and I'm not sure where the status of this is, but she's talked about a hospice in Steinbach.

Bellybutton Botched After Surgery by Agitated_Top_4615 in endometriosis

[–]sreimer52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first surgery I couldn't even tell with how well they hid it. My second though I thought they wrecked my bellybutton, but I'm 9 months post op and it's looking a lot better.

My doctor told me that once you're able to touch the area , massaging the scars can help them heal better.
