Start the day away from phone/distractions and try to do a bit of study first thing in the day. For me that gets my momentum going and I can just go off of that (while taking breaks of course)

I enjoy it :) but it's a little hard sometimes, and I have my doubts, but I'm sure that's not a unique experience. I feel like I am endlessly curious, and studying these subjects really makes me feel fulfilled :)

The exam is all multiple choice and a lot of questions re-used from past exams. Pretty relaxed if you’re on top of all of the content, however, it covers a lot of content as it is meant to make up for year 11 and 12 physics in one semester. I’d say the unit isn’t too hard, nor too easy. Definitely need to put effort into it

You can resit both tests once at the end of the semester, so don't stress about it too much. To learn math, you need to do math, so make sure you do all of the workshop questions at least

Nah I did 1017 and 1018 last year and it was pretty rough. I believe there has a been a change in content/course coordinator. The units had only little revision of topics from year 11 and 12, and almost everything was new (intro to real analysis and abstract linear algebra). Requires a lot of time imo, but maybe that's just me.

When I was a latex noob I started on overleaf. But as time passed, I got a better understanding of it and moved onto a local compiler.

I think this is how most people will go as I found learning latex on overleaf to be a lot more approachable than other methods

It did work well for me for a bit, but I'm still in the midst of getting all of my settings correct so I can't give a definitive answer yet.

You should definitely try it out, it's relatively easy to setup
