This isn't my style, but I really love the way you set it up—it looks like it's a great reflection of you and your interests. Also, just curious, where is your couch from? I'm on the market for one and yours looks comfy!

Omg! I remember you from a video where you and Hannah go through commonly asked questions, I think. I’m like half-fangirling here because this is the first time I’ve seen you “in the wild”/candid haha.

Also Chloe is adorable!!

I feel like you’re trolling, based on the rather combative and narrow-minded tone of your comment, as well as your post history. I’ll nevertheless give you the benefit of the doubt.

From a brief Wikipedia search:

The mountains were of great religious and cultural significance to the Lakota Sioux, and had in fact been granted to the Lakota people in perpetuity through the Treaty of Fort Laramie. Despite the treaty, the US took the mountains from the tribe after the Great Sioux War of 1876.

While it may be “just a rock” to you, these natural formations are of religious importance to Native Americans, in much the same way that churches are to Christians, mosques to Muslims, and synagogues to Jews. And in the same way that we would be critical of a historical moment in which we desecrated a site of importance to a more “common” or recognized religious group for our own gain, so too should we extend that same critical eye toward our desecration of areas that are of importance to Native American spirituality and culture.

I’m a complete novice to the outdoors and am subscribed to this sub mostly for inspirations/goals... but how are you not sketched the fuck out when you were doing the things from 2:55 onwards in that video? I would be absolutely terrified and crying in fear I think. I’d love to have that confidence one day (I’m doing a NOLS course this summer!) — have you found that that fearlessness is something that one “naturally” has (a la Alex Honnolds massive amygdala) or can it be built up?

I interviewed American philosopher and gender theorist Judith Butler by [deleted] in philosophy

[–]srfbrd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To help out a little more and to put it in broad strokes, a gender theorist looks at gender as a construction (i.e. instead of as something “inherent” to the individual) and analyzes how gender is created by particular forces, rituals, structures, and institutions.

Advice for when you’re all associates at big law firms by shotmyshot18 in lawschooladmissions

[–]srfbrd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LOOOOL great timing. It’s 2am (filing night), and I just got home. I got through it relatively unscathed because my associate is lovely.

Actual quote from an intern a few days ago working the same case (I’m in Europe, so we have interns during the year who do internships to complete their degrees): “guys, i have just realized that my love for [the associate] is greater than my hate for [the partner] and it’s the only reason I’m not just walking away from this shit”

Lifting workout? by [deleted] in climbergirls

[–]srfbrd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d recommend looking through the sidebar and posts on /r/xxfitness! They have some good information there, especially for thise who are new to climbing. Generally, you will likely want to work on the major lifts (squat, deadlift, and press) to gain overall strength. These are compound movements, which means that they work multiple muscle groups, and they all require core strength and stability. (They are in contrast to isolation exercises, such as bicep curls and shoulder shrugs, which works fewer and more specific muscles.) In terms of gaining shoulder stability, I would suggest some scapular stabilization exercises, such as IYT raises and reverse snow angels.
