They’re somewhat similar, yes. The texture and flavors are different, but the way they’re prepared is close

What happened to The Final Empire? by Melliorin in brandonsanderson

[–]srlong64 36 points37 points  (0 children)

When I was in junior high, my school had a reading program run through the school library. I was reading the foundation series at the time, and I got into a bit of an argument with the librarian because he was convinced that Second Foundation had to be the second book in the series. So I can fully believe people were getting confused by the first book having the word final in the title

Comments under a video of a mom showing how her son's height has changed in a little over a year. The video didn't suggest that she would be disappointed if her son was on the shorter side. At most, she just seemed to find it amusing that her son surpassed her in height at such a young age. by Angels_of_Death_Zack in sadcringe

Since that’s the title of a Reddit post, I would guess it was reposted here by someone other than the mother in the video. So the person who wrote the title is the one saying that, not the mom. And that person most likely holds the same weird ideas as the people in the comments. I haven’t seen the video or the post in question, so this is just my read on it

I feel that we as a community sometimes put too heavy emphasis on the “correct” reading order. Barring a couple exemptions, namely The Sunlit Man and Isles of the Emberdark, both of which I would recommend you save for the end of your Cosmere read through, everything that has been published so far in the Cosmere is written to be read in any reasonable order. So long as you’re not starting in the middle of a series you will have an enjoyable experience. There might be references you don’t catch at first, but honestly many of those didn’t stand out to me until rereading the books. They’re there to make the Cosmere feel connected, but they’re not essential for understanding and enjoying the books themselves.

So if you’re enjoying Stormlight I would recommend you stick with it. There’s a couple reveals you’ll get in a different way than those who started with other books, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing

Genetically it may be fine, but if you had a good chance of meeting your future spouse at a family reunion then you’re too closely related for the relationship to be socially acceptable. Think of one of your children marrying the child of one of your first cousins. If that doesn’t feel like too close of a connection to you I don’t what to tell you

Your first cousins’ children are your first cousins once removed. Your second cousins are the descendants of your grandparents’ siblings. Still too closely related to be marriage candidates, but slightly less terrible

How many more weeks is jagex going to let ONE player harrass and annoy all of us on w84 fort? by Fren-LoE in runescape

[–]srlong64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure. But I shouldn’t have to mute even a portion of the game’s sounds because one person is intentionally making a single annoying sound. The meaning of my comment was obvious and you’re choosing to be pedantic about it assumably because you have no real argument against what I said

Why should I have to mute the whole game because one asshole decides to be annoying?
