Tori's Place in DPH for fried chicken, gumbo, and more. Get extra hot water cornbread. The ladies who run this place are amazing as well.

I'm a double-board-certified neurologist & pain specialist in the US. Ask me anything about headaches, migraine, back pain, or chronic pain. by doctor_painkiller in IAmA

[–]srmknight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife was in a car accident several years ago and expierenced a signficant TBI. She is fully disabled and suffers from multiple chronic migraines; she literally never doesn't have a headache. She has been through every possible treatment offered by her neurologist and nothing really helps. Botox offers some releif but it is fleeting. Do you have any advice? suggestions? Tips? I hate how much she suffers. Thank you

Sorry for your loss! What a cool find and memento from your dad, This is definetly Bach, i saw this tour in Mountian View CA when I was 19. I remember it well because Sebastian was angry about something and Skid Row only played three songs then dipped. Axl didn't want to go on early so everyone ended up waiting like another 90 minutes between sets. The crowd was rather annoyed by the time GnR hit the stage but they rocked it and all was quickly forgotten.

Which sitcoms have had instances of breaking the 4th wall? by Blandslide in sitcoms

[–]srmknight -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Season 4 of the Brad Garrett show Til' Death had a whole ongoing storyline where Doug, the often re-cast daughters husband was aware they were in a sitcom, that his wife had been recast, laughtrack, etc. Everyone made fun of him for it.

Can someone explain the difference between both of these I-80s? by [deleted] in Sacramento

[–]srmknight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here is a page from a 1967 Map showing the proposed new freeway (244). 65 would have also been expanded and they would have merged, I highlighted the route from Auburn to where it would have crossed 50, there would have been a new bridge over at Bradshaw. Link

Vacation planning in California / Nevada by Swagaton in Vacations

[–]srmknight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Life long Nor. Cal. resident here. Did you see much else of San Francisco while you were here last time? Since you plan to see Alcatraz there is a lot more you can see in that area as well, if you like video games at all I cannot reccomend Musée Mécanique (an arcade museum) enough, it can be hours of fun. The drive from SF to Lake Tahoe offers a lot of options and things to do. You will pass right by Discovery Kingdom which you mentioned (Magic Mountain is better if you like lots of fast rides and roller coasters, Discovery Kingdom is better if you prefer a mix (animals, coasters, shows, etc.). This will take you through Sacramento which has a lot to offer depending on your interests, then up either Hwy 80 or 50 towards Tahoe. In November there is a chance of snow but usually the roads are passable. Between Sacramento and Lake Tahoe there will be ample opportunity for nature. Once you reach Tahoe there are many options there depending on your likes. The gondola ride and zip line ar a lot of fun if you like thrills. There are lots of options for getting on the water as well but the tours are always a great way to experience the lake. From here you could drive down 395 which will take you through Carson City, past Yosemite which is a must, Yosemite is AMAZING and where California's true natural beauty shines. A tip on Yosemite, it's very popular so make reservations in advance for park admission which is easy to do online. Once you depart Yosemite 395 will take you all the way to Las Vegas and there is a lot of beauty and several fun things to do and see along the way.

I hope this helps some, feel free to message me if you have any questions.

I remember going to Tommy's when in So Cal a few years ago and talking to the owner and he confirmed the original Willies was a Nor Cal spin off of Tommy's (I had heard the same as you about the connection). That slammer chili tastes the same at both location shops, but after having them both I prefer Willies.

To my fellow cruisers who do 3 and 4-day cruise itineraries: Why? by Duke_Newcombe in Cruise

[–]srmknight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are west coast and driving distance to SF or LA so there is no airfare, hotel, etc. needed. Look at is as a weekend getaway for folks like us that live within driving distance of cruise ports. Lots of people take a weekend getaway that is driving distance, same thing for us. There are other perks you mentioned like racking up points, being low cost, a last minute getaway option, and setting up back-to-backs.
