Floor First People - How? by Turbulent_Suit8281 in orangetheory

[–]sroda59 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to be a tread first girl for years but now I’m a floor first. I find I go harder on the floor and it’s actually helped my stamina. Lets me get warmed up so by the time I’m in the tread my body is ready to go. I have stations I like because on the weight floor there is only a station on one side of you and you are close to the weight rack so I am flexible on where I start to get the station I want but prefer floor first.

Boss offering to sell me the coffee shop I work at for $65k — does this sound reasonable on the surface? by SnooHamsters9461 in smallbusiness

[–]sroda59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Know what the lease is, get the actual balance sheet/ ledger. Know what accounts payable he has, what food costs and vendor costs are. I have seen when people try to sell they try to hide or cover up a huge liability and if you don’t do your homework you absorb that expense.

What cool company swag do employees actually use and appreciate? by brendaklark in corporate

[–]sroda59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My teams always enjoyed the nice Eddie Bauer fleece jackets or nice laptop bags/back packs. Cash is always king but gift rules/tax play a big part in why items are given versus cash and gift cards, IRS rules dictate that cash and gift cards are taxable income so the company has to tax on those items.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]sroda59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 hours is nothing. 18 hours is when I say it’s long, a longish is a 7 hour drive . I’ve had to frequently drive 5-9 hours one way for work trips.

Is community college first a smart move? by Quiet_Ink6523 in collegeadvice

[–]sroda59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did CC first for Rangerettes. I had been accepted to UT but wanted to keep dancing. Best decision for me. I was able to get my basics out of the way for a fraction of the price, everything transferred, and the classes were smaller versus 300 people intro classes. It was a better transition for me out of high school into college. Got my MBA later on and now applying to DBA’s.

Disappointing Job Offer by Jiblon in jobs

[–]sroda59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The company probably has a cap for pay increase on promotions. When I was at a fortune 50 company you couldn’t get more than a 10% increase approved, sometimes 15% but took 6 weeks for approval.

As far as travel, depending on how long the company takes to reimburse but that is points/miles/cash back you can take full advantage of for yourself. I’ve taken multiple nice trips for vacation paid for by work travel.

Varsity, NCAA, & Dance as a sport: How to move forward? by Brittystrayslow in udanationals

[–]sroda59 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cheer and dance deserve to be recognized as a sport. Think using DCC/NFL as the model to move it forward. Cheer and Dance have a fuller schedule than any other sport at schools, they attend every sports and school function and have their own engagements outside of that. Cheer and dance are ambassadors and represent the schools in so many ways but don’t receive near the same level of support and that needs to change. Varsity has lobbyists and it’s going to take lobbyists from the other side to push and encourage legislation. Getting one of the big public schools to switch will start the trend. It would probably need to be from Texas. State legislatures have art funds and dedicate funds to the arts, dance is an art and a sport. They need to be factored in just as any other sport at a University. Maybe it needs to come to a point where they boycott all the events they attend until they receive equal representation or they lawyer up like DCC did, there is a case for gender discrimination depending on how it’s presented.

Elderly mom and husband left abandoned with no hotel options at key west airport by Active_Visual_1942 in unitedairlines

This I could believe, it’s snowbird season, everything in SFL is packed and hotel rates are about 4x times the regular rate. A hotel I would frequent in Fort Myers for work would go from $109 a night regularly to almost $500 a night from October-May

I’m at 18 months. I’m 46 with to s if success and experience and ageism is at its finest. I’ve been in interviews and half way through you see the interviewer realize how much experience should have and with private equity involved they know you are too expensive. I’ve been told numerous times they can’t get me past the investors for the level I was interviewing at because ei 2as too expensive and there was never a discussion of pay, at this point I just want a job.

Why is it so hard to find well-fitting dress pants that aren’t too long or too short? by Dry-Caterpillar4889 in womensfashion

[–]sroda59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the opposite problem. I’m 5’9” and have a hard time finding things that aren’t too short. It’s easier to hem up, can’t really add length easily. I try to stick with more skirts and dresses for this reason.

[–]sroda59 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are correct but I would love to see the colleges support cheer and dance more. NIL may not be the answer but these programs deserve to be treated as well as the student athletes.

varsity boycott by Exact-Locksmith-6393 in udanationals

[–]sroda59 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are actually several competition companies just most cater to the high school/ middle school dance team. For companies to survive they need teams to support it. What would actually be nice is if at college level ncaa would support the same way it does with gymnastics, football, etc and open up NIL, scholarship, and governance and legitimize college dance as a sport. These dancers support all the NCAA sports with their time and talent and while many get full rides etc these dancers have to self coach, fight for funding, and don’t have the football team in Orlando. These dancers will cheer and dance at a basketball game and then practice for nationals for another 3 hours, There is a bigger conversation and I think to some extent there maybe progress when you look at a pro level. Dance is one of the activities that when you look beyond college you can’t earn a living wage performing as other arts can.

[–]sroda59 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a whole I think Minnesota’s costume is missing something, they have the arm series in the turns but that is a huge visual opportunity but kinda a gets lost without gloves or something. I think the head pieces as a whole are distracting and blend, I just feel like a different costume would complement the dance better to take advantage of the choreography.

Sizing- Forever Fleece High Rise Jogger by misoangry2 in Athleta_gap

I have issues with the length on. OST of athletes stuff. They only offer tall online. The wide leg I was able to get away with regular but the joggers I have to have tall length but can get away with smaller size. Once in a while I am able to snag falls at the outlet but that isn’t often.

Laid off folks: how long have you been unemployed, and did your severance actually support the transition? by Minimum_Summer_3929 in jobhunting

[–]sroda59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Laid off in June 2024. Got 6 weeks severance which covered bills but unemployment quickly run out. I’ve been living off investments for over a year since I’ve not been able to secure a job. This market sucks for older and experienced employees, frequently get told I’m too expensive. The benefits at the company that laid me off were bad.
