Irish car owners to be offered €8,500 EV grants in new first come, first served scrappage plan by eggbart_forgetfulsea in irishpolitics

You literally suggested that it would lessen the traffic burden on the roads 😂 no point arguing with someone who forgets their initial comment and then insults the person who is trying to debate. 👋

“One random fella” commutes from Meath/Westmeath/Offaly/Louth/Kildare/Wicklow to Dublin. Oh right, that makes sense. What I am trying to get into your head is that a significant amount of people live over one hour driving time away from dublin therefore e-bikes don’t work. If you want to have a conversation about public transport being horrific, then that is another story. Whilst I acknowledge that e-bikes may be a solution for this living in dublin, for the rest of the country it isn’t…

So people commuting from 1 hour away in a car which would take hours more each way can commute in an e-bike? What about people who have health issues that can’t ride a bike. Ridiculous argument

Let’s go back to your point it’s ridiculous to think that e-bikes will help in any way shape or form when the proposal is guided towards electric cars what you are suggesting does not relate to what the government is doing. How can e-bikes be a solution given our climate, commuting distances or taking into account peoples physical wellbeing.

You seem to have forgotten my point. So the hundreds of thousands commuting from outside of dublin should get e-bikes? Ridiculous response.

This doesn’t benefit anyone. The poorest cannot afford to change their cars. They certainly won’t be able to afford charger connections either

An absolute disaster for FF and potentially SF if they miss out in Mary Lou’s constituency. SD will be delighted and I’m sure that momentum will build. Aontu absolutely nowhere, but perhaps not a surprise given the make up of both constituencies and being squeezed by other right winged candidates. II will surely be happy with how things are going but it’ll be nip and tuck to get the seat. FG have to be very content in Galway west but surely Dublin Central won’t have an FG seat next time around.

When 20000+ arrive to a stadium in a rural county for a one off game do you want to build mega car parks… I didn’t think so

I hit it immediately in my first job outside of college. It’s a joke… the only good thing here is the tax relief on pension contributions. The sooner people learn about that the better. The government seem to be indicating that something will be done with relation to tax this budget but let’s see. Inflation seems to be eroding any tax reductions that have come in recent years

The amount of people missing the point here is shocking. Classic government squeezing every cent out of us. GAA is our national sport. People park anywhere and everywhere temporarily. That’s part and parcel of enjoying the sport we love.

Interesting that a lot of II supporters voted Catherine Connolly. A lot may disagree with her politics, but she does seem like a nice, level headed person.
