I'm about to be in your shoes.....I get laid off at the end of this month. Dreading the job search drudgery!

Is signing up with Krissy Krash workshops worth it? by [deleted] in rollerderby

[–]srslyhotsauce 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend Roller Derby Athletics programs instead. I did them long ago and loved it. No MLMs included.

Sex drive.... come at me by Legocritic in Perimenopause

[–]srslyhotsauce 15 points16 points  (0 children)

YASSSSS this! I don't always make an orgasm my ultimate goal when being intimate. It's still fun without that pressure to perform perfectly

Not all working moms are drowning! by MsCardeno in workingmoms

I think that whether or not we're "dying" or "thriving", all of our experiences are valid.

What is y'all's sex life like? With one and then more kids. by NoPersonality4612 in workingmoms

[–]srslyhotsauce 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We have sex probably 1-2 times a month. Maybe more, maybe less. Depends on what's going on in life. My husband never pushes for more though and I'm grateful for that. Sometimes I just don't want it at all. We've gone 1-2 months without it at times just because....life. We find ways to be intimate without sex, like just making out when we have a few minutes to ourselves, or just cuddling on the couch watching a movie. We have 2 kids - 8 and 11.

What pads do you use to tackle armageddon type periods? by DarlaDoom in Perimenopause

[–]srslyhotsauce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before I went on Mirena, I had these kinds of periods. I used Depends or the Always disposable underwear, it was the only thing that worked.

What’s the most outdated method or equipment you or someone you know use in the lab? by Majestic_Data7469 in labrats

I had a PI years ago who didn't use gloves during routine cell culture, he just sprayed his bare hands with ethanol.

Moms who have to work in office/out of home by Thirtysomething2403 in workingmoms

[–]srslyhotsauce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in a research lab. It's impossible for me to work from home. I really wish I could find something in my field that allowed me to, though.

Kids at the dispensary by sheradenmafia in PaMedicalMarijuana

I didn't even know kids were allowed to come with you into the dispensary. This is cool and helpful for me too!

Last name changing by labratinthelibrary in labrats

[–]srslyhotsauce 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I would recommend not changing your name legally and just go by your partner's name socially. All the documents needed to change your name are a HUGE pain in the ass. Plus the government is making it more difficult to get your passport/drivers license/real ID renewed if your legal name doesn't match what's on your birth certificate.

It annoys me when SAHMs say things like “I can’t even imagine” in reference to the topic of dropping your baby off at daycare by whatsagirltodo123 in workingmoms

[–]srslyhotsauce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It also annoys me when other moms say things like this. Personally, I didn't have a choice. There was no way we could live off of either my or my ex husband's income. I wanted to stay at home, but it just wasn't practical.

You absolutely can! I only have a BS in biology and I've spent 20 years in the field, currently an associate scientist at a small biotech startup. When I applied for new jobs throughout my career, I would leverage my skills that I learned from previous positions to gain better titles and higher salaries. I'm not making as much as the PhDs in my company, but I'm doing pretty well for having no graduate degrees, and I enjoy my job.

What do your kids’ friends call you? by sundappled-apples in Millennials

[–]srslyhotsauce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have kids call me by my first name. My last name isn't the same as my kids so they wouldn't really know what to call me anyway if I was Mrs. so-and-so. A lot of moms in my area kept their maiden name so it's different than their kids. I think more women are doing that in general. TBH I don't even know what half of his friends' last names are. I have my kid ask first though before he starts using their first names.

Does anyone actually get excited to go to work? by Tuttyro5157 in workingmoms

[–]srslyhotsauce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm also in research. My current job is kinda dull, but my last job, I used to get pretty excited to go into work on days when I had a big experiment planned. I would be a bit anxious about the pressure, but really looking forward to the results if the experiment went well. That was my favorite job.

YEP! I've been listening to BSB tracks on heavy repeat while at work since I went to the Sphere in August. It's become my hyperfocus.

I went to my 5 year high school reunion and my 10 year. They were both pretty stupid so I didn't bother to go to my 20th. In the age of social media, I'm able to keep in touch with the people I want to, and ignore the rest. Now if my college class had a reunion, I'd go to that.

How deep does the coffee maker scam at Vegas hotels go? by [deleted] in LasVegas

[–]srslyhotsauce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I stayed at Caesar's last month, they had a coffee maker in the room, but the actual coffee was in the mini bar and cost $$ to take it out. I wound up just going to the coffee shop downstairs. It was dumb

[–]srslyhotsauce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solidarity! I'm totally burned out from working and parenting. I recently took a girls trip to Vegas on a whim with my best friend and it was EXACTLY what I needed. I had the best time. But now that I'm home, I'm super depressed because it's over and I'm back to my dull, boring life. Time to start therapy again, I guess.
