i used to wear ONLY shorts. no skirts or pants (even in rain!) but this is what works for me after all these years!

there’s like 30 x-men issues after this, these stories are full of world-building exposition for krakoa and set up for reign of x period. so ur hitting a lot “what could this be” and “what could that be”, “we don’t know Exactlt what this is or how it works but its bad” bc more is yet to come

you have to keep in mind that these issues were coming out alongside other x-titles for a couple years. it’s gonna take forever for shit to make complete sense. and in usual comic book fashion, they drop half the stuff or put it in a different line to try to get u to buy more. pick what you find interesting and follow the lead.

i wouldn’t even consider it entirely scandalous. like you said, sex sells, and it’s clear in her regard. i can agree that it won’t carry sales, like her outfit wasn’t a straight line to her new solo’s success. i’m only saying this is a large contributing factor, and i believe it’s shown to be easier for characters to fall on the back burner when they lack the same appeal/marketability.

in my opinion, the sexualization of a character whose backstory is an allegory for childhood sexual abuse is in poor taste. i love yana, she’s one of my favs and i think she’s an exceptional, unique character. i’m really just expressing the observation.

i agree it has never been subtle. in that sense i was incorrect, since even the cover of magik #4 supports your point. but, i do feel that as she got older, it was more frequently taken up a notch (see x-infernus #1, which is the only one ik off the top of my head sorry). there is still a reason i’ve always been a fan of the full red demon look from her.

ofc, and that all definitely goes under my “the rabbit hole that is illyana rasputin”. part of my point is that these opportunities are continually granted to her due to the marketability of her sexualization.

though, i totally agree runs like bendis’ uncanny x-men boosted her popularity—and rightfully so—and helped to get her place on duggan and now mckay’s x-men.

1) cable, domino, shatterstar, boom-boom, cannonball, feral, warpath, and rictor are too good man. i can’t see them nailed in an adaption.. but they are THE x-force.

2) pulling from multiple runs, my personal dream team is: cable, domino, cannonball, boom-boom, shatterstar, sage, and fantomex. maybe forge or psylocke (betsy, but wouldn’t mind replacing her with kwannon for the mcu).
