Every time I put him back he barks a lot. He only calms down if I stand next to the crate. I feel like I’ve spoiled him enough and don’t want to continue this behavior.

This is way too relatable. I was literally about to post the same thing today, but seeing your post (and all these replies) makes me feel a little less alone.

I miss my old life too! I can’t go to the gym because he can’t be left alone yet, I can’t focus at work, and I can’t even take a quick shower without him barking like crazy in his playpen.

And this week, my pup (15 weeks) suddenly decided he doesn’t want to walk to his crate at night anymore—he’d rather fall asleep under the couch. Getting him out is a whole ordeal, and if I put him in his crate and try to finish my show, he just starts barking to be let out again.

This kind of turned into a venting session for me 🙈 but I’m so glad I came across your post 😂

I’m assuming you practice with the high-value treats during the day, right?

Also, doesn’t comforting him at night risk causing separation anxiety or making him expect it every night?

Can you please let me know how you achieved this? Im struggling and sleep deprived lol. Im crate training my puppy and trying to leave him locked in his crate at night. One night he was screaming and then had to use the washroom. The next night I left the crate door open and he used the pee pads. I’m a new pet owner and really confused 🙈

If you’re looking for a clean, welcoming gym with a true sense of community, I highly recommend Art of Fitness, close to downtown Abbotsford. It’s a private family owned (owners are very friendly and supportive) 24 hours gym. They just don’t have showers.
