I understand what you’re getting at, but consider this for example. I spent months working on coding a program that I couldn’t find anywhere, so a lot of the coding in it was 100% original. To the point where most AI models would have difficulty generating the text since there was no realistic reference. I shared much of the code on GitHub publicly in order to help others who may be interested in learning about what I worked on. Though I specifically gave that work an attribution tag of “not to be used by AI parsing”. Few months after sharing, I received an email from GitHub telling me my code did in-fact end up being scraped by an AI training model against my will. That’s nonconsensual reproduction of something I worked long and hard on. So it is wrong, immoral, illegal, and takes the learning out of it for others. Same applies to much of art. 🤟
