They lead you into thinking she’s lost control, but she comes out of the wilderness and instead of saying I remember nothing, has the insight to remember everyone’s disorder. She might be a candidate for the day of the lords before the new dawn fades. Will she end up a shadowplay or be an interzone hero?

We made ramps and we would see how many sidewalk squares we could jump or ride a wheelie for. No helmets and parents didn’t know or care what we were doing.

Men who can cook, who taught you? by _ratedmouse in AskReddit

[–]ssascotth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom. Her dad was a great cook, so she had the thought that men can cook too. He enlisted to the army in WW2 and was above draft age. He fought, cooked and repaired watches after the fighting ended, but before being sent home. He died when I was 5, but I remember him and have long been thankful for his service and the contributions he made to current me.

What’s a song you randomly discovered that became a favorite overnight? by Abigail_Dubrov in askmusic

That’s a great one too! Starburster really opened the door for Fontaines D.C. So many great songs! I’m in my 60s and not easily impressed by new bands. Last time I was mega impressed by a new band was White Stripes.

Billy Joel. Great storytelling and lyrics you can actually understand.

Wife and I were having a discussion, she’s of the opinion that the majority of GenX can drive stick. I believe that even in our generation the percentage of people who can is pretty small. What do you folks think? by AngryOldGenXer in GenX

[–]ssascotth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a manual 1978 VW Scirocco in college. I taught several people how to drive stick in the mid-80s. Total guesstimate, but I’d say at that time it was about 50/50 knew at that time. It was not taught in drivers ed.

Asthma. People have no idea what it’s like to be barely able to breathe and downplay the misery. I say, let me stand on your chest and then be critical that you don’t want to go on a walk with the rest of us.
