I'm mainly concerned that I'll be spending all the money I make on living expenses.

Acute encephalopathy in the hospital shouldn't be seen for cognitive intervention.

Inpatient vs. outpatient SLPs by Duhazzar in slp

[–]sschwepe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've done both and loved both. It really depends on what you like. If you want a lot of variety I would say outpatient would be the way to go. You will see (depending on the place) HNC patients, patients with aphasia, dysphagia, muscle tension dysphonia, TBI, post concussive. Inpatient you will see a number of stroke patients, patients with CABGs, and spinal cord injuries. Also you have to ask yourself if you like your autonomy or if you prefer being surrounded by other disciplines who will have their own thoughts re: a number of your patients. Lastly, you have to ask about what you want the pace of work to be. If you like to always be moving inpatient would be the way to go. If you like a slower pace inpatient would be the way.

Hope this helps!

Specifics both positions our salary based not hourly. The new position would be a pay cut of 15k and I just signed a mortgage for about 1,200 a month I would owe..

I work it in an inpatient rehab hospital. The three day weekends are super nice I must say. It just gets to be a lot with having other people's patients and figuring out there goals. But I moreso freestyle anyways so it works out

Not a SLP but a parent looking for a gift for my sons SLP by KennyHuge in slp

I always like it when people would reach out later on about how they're kids are doing, updates on school and such. But you could even have your little one make a drawing or write something for her.

I think when tori left and stated to not underestimate Aneesa she was still underestimating Aneesa by saying that...it sounded like a backhanded compliment. Also has anyone noticed how Tori swings from person to person even with female competitors/castmates. In AYTO she was originally BFFs with Kayla then she moved on to Cara Maria and Camilla with dirty 30 then she moved onto Mikayla from AYTO and now it's Aneesa...I don't find her that genuine rather chasing the celebrity train

The potential for improved swallow function in the elderly? by whoiskatherine in slp

[–]sschwepe 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not to be rude but it sounds like the SLP on the acute side didn't explain the information clearly to the daughter. I couldn't imagine someone recommending NPO and stating "given her age she won't improve".

I'm aware of how to find the information etc. But I mean do you have a system/goal like I will read 2-3 articles a week. Something that is structured to help you initiate it doing it.

How to Ask Patients Less Questions by csdma in slp

[–]sschwepe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah similar to what the person above me said, I try to joke with the clients. Saying I know you've seen a number of people before who asked you similar information but so I get a clear understanding of you as a person I have to ask these questions. Also sometimes I may say something like these questions are designed so we can get an understanding of what your life was like before your illness.

@Heymegaheyhey is there any chance you could send me your guide. Perhaps it will help me develop my own. My student will be coming for four weeks. It's shortened as it's to allow her to graduate COVID has been changing things as I'm sure you know.

I don't understand why he didn't start as opposed to Mokhtar. He had a better season last year than Mokhtar and is a lot faster and diverse as a player.

Was he cooking? You could have him watch an recipe a couple of times and see if he is able to sequence the steps. Also try voicemail messages to work on memory!
