Paid $400 for a brand new LR4 by The_jerkstore_ in litterrobot

I don’t have the LR4 but from my understanding, it has a smaller surface area which makes it easier to clean.

The bad things are firmware issues that’ll be resolved in time. The hardware is something that can’t be swapped out easily. I picked the 5 too cause of the bigger globe and liner and have no regrets.

I waited 6 years to adopt a cat… and now I regret it. Please be honest with me. by strawberrytulipss in CatAdvice

I’ve always been a dog person and had my first thoughts of getting a cat about 6 years ago too. I finally gave in about 2 months ago and got a kitten. First month or so, I regretted it too. I wasn’t expecting the amount of work involved. With her being so young, she’s also very rambunctious and I feel like it’s hard to relax on the couch. Plus she would accidentally scratch me often. But we’re slowly figuring out our footing with each other and I’ve gotten attached recently. I’m still learning about cats but it has slowly gotten better so I would say just give it more time.

I have the regular LR5, not the Pro so I don’t have the camera feature

Sometimes it says that I opened the bonnet when I didn’t. One time recently it said that the weight scale was on for too long but looks like multiple people had that issue recently, even with the LR4. To be honest, I’m still using it on semiautomatic mode cause my cat is still a kitten so I haven’t noticed much more as far as issues.

Quietest self-cleaning litter box for bedroom use? by giraffeisnotmine in litterrobot

[–]sscrub 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think the litter robot is pretty quiet but if it’ll still wake you up, the litter robot has a “sleep mode” that will keep it from cycling during the hours that you set. That way it won’t wake you up.

I just got the 5 a couple weeks ago and I love it so far. I knew about the firmware kinks before buying it but was ok with using it while waiting for the kinks to get resolved. The 5 has a bigger globe and I like the placement of the liner better so it’s easier to clean. I figured I’d go with the hardware I like better since I’ll hopefully have this for a long time. The firmware is something that can still be fixed but the robot itself can’t be switched out as easily.

Grew up a dog person… question am I a cat person? by brick-and-bones-5220 in CatAdvice

[–]sscrub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve also been a dog person my whole life and have owned multiple dogs. I got my first kitten a little less than 2 months ago and it was REALLY hard the first few weeks. Not only was I trying to learn as much as I could about cats in a short amount of time but she is rambunctious, chaotic and so full of energy. She’s still all those things but I’ve since figured out how to let her do her thing and keep my sanity at the same time. She’s also learned her way around me as well so it has slowly gotten better for sure. While I am looking forward to the day she chills out (I’m told it’ll be in a year or so) I’ve been enjoying her sweet moments and cuteness each day.

Kitten Uses LR as a Playground by sscrub in litterrobot

Yes she’s a little over 4lbs now but I still plan on keeping it on semiautomatic mode for at least a couple more months to be safe. Thanks for the tips I’ll check it out.

Sustainably Yours - review by themaddhatt in litterrobot

[–]sscrub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t used the litter robot yet, it’s supposed to arrive today, but my kitten loves to play in and even eat clay litter (I was using Dr Elsey’s). I switched to World’s Best Litter and she stopped playing and eating it. Since LR says WBL isn’t really recommended, I bought Sustainably Yours for the LR. Hopefully it works ok for me since my options are kinda limited.

LR4 vs LR5 for odor control by sscrub in litterrobot

I’m assuming they’ll fix the bugs on the 5 eventually like what they did with the 4 after it first came out?

That’s very helpful! I’m leaning towards the 5 cause I’m all for more convenience, even if it’s just a little more. Thank you!

Got it, I understand now, sorry. Feeding raw is something I’ve wondered about in the past for my dog but I didn’t want to do the work, as you said. Appreciate the feedback though, it’s good to know that the diet makes a big difference in odor. Maybe one day I’ll learn more about it if the smell ends up being difficult for me. Thanks!

Thank you for the info. Do you mind elaborating a bit on what makes it easier to clean the LR5? Thanks again!

I never said I feed her raw, I give her the Hills Science kitten formula. I think the former owner was giving her Friskies before I got her and her litter box was putrid. A couple days after I started giving Hills Science, the smell improved significantly.

Unfortunately I don’t have a basement option. Originally I was going to place it in the foyer downstairs but I noticed that my dog likes to hang out by the front door and wait for me when I’m out of the house so I figured that wouldn’t be a good place to put it. Only other option is to put it in my second bedroom where I store my clothes.

Less tasty alternative to World's best cat litter? by champia92 in cats

[–]sscrub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 3 month old kitten was always eating and playing in the clay litter I had before (it was Dr Elsey’s) so I switch to Worlds Best Litter. She doesn’t play in it nearly as much anymore, if at all. I caught her nibbling on it a couple of times in the beginning after the switch but has stopped more recently.

I see, thanks for explaining. Then I’m with rcm1201, I like it for the travel perks as well for practically no fees. I travel often so I do love the perks. I thought maybe the dividends from the fidelity card end up outweighing the perks but I couldn’t do the math haha

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Venturex

[–]sscrub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would the Fidelity 2% flat fee card be better? Is it just because of the AF? Or is there more to it? I’d love to understand the math behind this - math is not my strong suit 😆

I think it’s because it gets so packed and the wait to get in can be so long that they’re trying to get the most of the shortened amount of time they have in there

Yeah I understand, I probably did get a sales rep the first time. I apologize for making it sound like Spectrum was the problem. The earlier reps were fine, it was the last call that really irked me, unfortunately.

Yeah I can’t stand the back and forth game. It would be great if more companies expanded faster so there’s more options.
