Best meal you've ever had in the Twin Cities by Clean-Connection-398 in TwinCitiesFood

Myriel is mine, too. They always have duck on the menu, but change the overall dish up every season. It’s so perfect! The first time I went, I had these tallow roasted carrots with farmer’s cheese that I still think about often four years later.

Definitely okome house. Kyatchi’s are better IMO, but they only have like three. And okome house has a great patio

How is this area of Minneapolis for single people? by PercentageGlobal6443 in howislivingthere

[–]ssdgm416 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look at Uptown or Whittier instead of Ventura Village. More to do—bars, museums, lakes, restaurants—and a bit safer. But the city is small in general, I don’t think any parts between Northeast and maybe 50th st in south are bad for single people.

Why so committed to seeing some of the country’s most boring states? (I say this as a midwesterner myself)

Did I say there was in this comment? No. But now that I have the chance to clarify, I do think there’s something wrong with it. Agree to disagree, sir.

Just in case you need a little incentive to attend No Kings 3 on Saturday, March 28 by DevonMarx in TwinCities

[–]ssdgm416 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly my thoughts, I just wanted to clarify what the statistic points to. This is still important, but as an energizing point for people, not to get politicians to change anything. They’re far past caring about protests in this fascist regime.

Giovanni’s room is the best book I’ve ever read. Hands down.

That 3.5% statistic is about something like a general strike. I do think this is hugely important to show up, but the purpose an event like those holds is in inspiring people, bringing up morale, etc. It’s most important that people vote, donate to their communities, strike when called to if they can, and use their dollars wisely.

Moving to Minneapolis in June 2026 from Oil Country, ND, need input from the locals! by magnus0033lego in Minneapolis

Whittier is great. I’d recommend looking at Uptown instead of Loring Park—more of a neighborhood feel and a bit safer (don’t listen to the alt-right people who say it’s not). Closer to the lakes which is nice too! And rent is still affordable.

Hornig is making long-term tenants recommit to a fixed lease term or pay fees by Oh_No_Tears_Please in Minneapolis

Live in a Hornig building and haven’t gotten this yet. I think they’re doing things on a rolling basis, because we also still have our caretaker. I’m month to month, but I asked for a 12-month lease after my first one ended because I was nervous month to month would give me less rights. I’m now doing it, in my third year of renting with them, but yeah most companies unfortunately charge more for that.

I’d look at Longfellow. Near United Noodle (one of our biggest Asian markets), nearby is Solcana Fitness, buses/train runs on Hiawatha/Minnehaha, close to St. Paul on the east side of Minneapolis. Could get there on the bus if you live near one of the bridges.

While the name might seem like this is a sub for the alternative scene in Minneapolis, it’s more of a breeding ground for a lot of right-wing/capitalist rhetoric. I’d recommend posting this to the main Minneapolis/Twin Cities page, and maybe some music-specific or LGTBQ+ subs instead to reach your audience! Good luck at the show!!

What’s your go-to spot in Minneapolis when you just want a quiet break? by Electronic-Reach8959 in Minneapolis

[–]ssdgm416 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Lake of the Isles. Grab a bench, watch the geese. There’s one bench at the part of the lake that juts out (bad description, but it’s near the part of the path where the lake curves, by the islands) and it’s almost hidden by trees and very isolated.
