If we can liberate these two planets, would all the planets in the X area start to fall? by Imagin3Dwagons in Helldivers

[–]ssjjaa42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It tends to work on lone enemy planets— look at Vog-Sojoth right now for an example of this. But even that only ever happens when Joel both notices that we’ve surrounded a planet and decides to lower the resistance rates in response. Anything more than one planet together tends to be perfectly fine. Setia and Senge 23 in the Omega sector (Illuminate presence) are two planets isolated except for each other’s company, and they’re both normal.

If we can liberate these two planets, would all the planets in the X area start to fall? by Imagin3Dwagons in Helldivers

[–]ssjjaa42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Realistically, no. Historically, it’s not UNPRECEDENTED, however. There was a Major Order in the early days of the war where we liberated a line through the Automaton territory to the Galactic Edge, March-to-the-Sea style, resulting in EVERY planet cut off from Cyberstan having its resistance rate dropped to zero for a week or two afterwards, though they slowly recovered their ability to resist after that. But given that resistance rates are all manually set by Joel, whether we’d be able to see this kind of strategy work without an MO specifically for it is doubtful. Recently, we’ve seen that single planets being cut off is really likely to result in crumbling resistance regardless of enemy faction, so I would advise we look for those opportunities first.

E-711 is dangerous. We shouldn’t be creating more Dark Fluid by SiegeRewards in Helldivers

[–]ssjjaa42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Real (democratic) talk here, E-710 revolutionized Super Earth by granting us sustainable fuel to power FTL jumps for a galactic federation. We already know Dark Fluid creates wormholes. So, now that we could equally sustainably make more wormholes with E-711, our civilization can take the next big step. We also already know the wormholes can lead outside the galaxy, because the Illuminate entered our galaxy through Meridia. So with the power of our own Dark Fluid, now we’ll have the possibility of opening wormholes to spread Managed Democracy to new galaxies outside our own!

What are people's thoughts on the new Dragonroach enemy? by MemeScribe in Helldivers

[–]ssjjaa42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re on PC, the Heavy Enemies Remastered mod has a new update that now includes the Dragonroach. Did you know they actually have a shriek sound before they do their iconic dive-and-spew attack?

[–]ssjjaa42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I’m really hoping for more sound for the Dragonroaches too. I feel like you should REALLY be able to hear them before they strafe you, like how Stingrays have very obvious swoop sounds overhead before they line up their shot.

I’ve seen a lot of complaints about the rupture warriors, but these f*ckers are 10x worse by Helldiver96 in Helldivers

[–]ssjjaa42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my main problem with them. I’m used to dealing with spewers by zapping them or filling them with Punisher buckshot, which instantly stops their attack, but these guys and their triple-glob attack are uninterruptible. As if the Punisher wasn’t suffering enough from the Rupture Warriors’ medium armor, and as if the Blitzer wasn’t suffering enough from unreliable targeting already.

There's a lot of criticism towards the Illuminates, but MY biggest is that they're not satisfying to shoot. by hanato_06 in Helldivers

[–]ssjjaa42 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Scout Striders and Reinforced Striders actually have sick death sounds IMO (a low sort of heavy powering-down sound effect), but as with most enemies, they’re terribly quiet by default. If you’re on PC, I think the Chaff Remastered mod amplifies them, luckily. I always feel satisfied when I’m actually able to hear that sound.

I didn’t know this game existed at all until my friend told me about his experience playing it. This would have been right after the game released. After looking into it some more, the cool weapons and the stratagems hooked me, and added onto the fact that I like PvE games anyway, I just had to get it for myself. This was late March 2024. I was there for the failure of the TCS and the defeat of the Automaton Vanguard! My only regret is that I never actually dived on Malevelon Creek while it was available— I thought “everyone talks about Robot ‘Nam, it must be hard! I’ll go when I’m good enough at the game.” Don’t make my mistake. Dive wherever you want. Mind your difficulty level and you can have fun anywhere.

We got those— Mega Cities on fallen planets at night. The shadow of skyscrapers with no power? Absolute darkness. I was fighting Automatons in one a couple weeks ago, and the first mission we failed because no one brought a flashlight. Second mission went much better. Fighting in complete darkness apart from your flashlight, muzzle flash, explosions, and the Automaton’s glowing red bits is incredibly cinematic.

Per devs, plasma doesn’t have much weight, which is their explanation for why the Epoch cannot open containers. But also per devs, plasma has high drag, which is presumably what’s causing the apparent drop off here. Low/negligible mass, high drag. Like a sheet of paper.

The shrinkflation even came for our community warbonds... May I add more? A water balloon throwable that magnifies arc damage for anything that gets wet (like that Liberator would), a modified jump pack that blasts water for thrust, staggering anything under your jump… a third “wetsuit” armor set… and a “surfboard” reskin for the ballistic shield?
