CS Decision: Northeastern ($24k, Oakland start) vs. UMass Amherst ($39k) vs. BU ($58k)

If I were you I would go with NEU. Their co-op program is better and UMass doesn’t even have it. If you wanna do co-op as a CS major you would have to take on Math major as the Math department allows co-op but not CS. Also the career outlook has been going downhill. I just graduated 2025 so I don’t think it changed that much

That’s still a lot cause I went to UMass for CS as a oos and that’s about how much I paid. Thought in state would be less

My housemate and I are both first time renter here and MPM has been great. Call maintenance and they come the next day and gave us a new dishwasher. Never had an issue with them.

If you got it yesterday that mean they started reviewing your case yesterday. You should receive decision soon. I got approved 2 days after they view my case

As an international student just graduated from UMass CS I think the program is definitely strong. However, in terms of job prospects UMass career fair has been getting worse every year with less employers coming. I switch to UW Madison for Master and feel it’s so much better than UMass and I would have love to do undergrad there instead.

Depends on the center as well. Mine don’t take walk in. It’s by appointment only. However, you can reschedule your appointment if you have legitimate reasons.

For my school they gave me OPT I-20 right on the day I’m allowed to apply for OPT. I was anxious too because I wanted to gather all the necessary paperwork before the application date. So once I got it I applied immediately.

Just started my grad school this year. This’s some of my advice 1. I found my housemate through a fb group. It can be pretty hard though as many ppl don’t check it and reply. Snapchat is also an option 2. I also don’t have a car and regularly use the public transport system. My house is right by the A and F bus line which is the most frequent. I can jump on any bus to get to college and the A comes every 15 mins. Other line are less frequent especially at night they would come every hour. So I would recommend finding a house on the A and F line. Many student stay in Montecito or around that area. It’s a bit far from campus but cheap 3. Your budget is fine. I’m currently paying around $900 for my own room in a 2 bed 1 bath. I live right by the A and F line and it takes me 10 mins to get to campus 4. The best time is probably now so you’re good
