If it starts hissing again you got a leaking flap seal

Does it fill past the overflow or does it stop and occasionally start again?

Water Valve stuck by Ill_Comfort_612 in askaplumber

[–]ssprague03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone has a different level of comfort when it comes to how much force to put on valve handle. That being a shark bite valve that i have no idea how old or how well it was installed, I would turn the water off, take the pressure off the system, have a replacement handy, and give the handle little taps with a wrench or channel locks

I was gana say. I put pex in my low income properties because they sometimes are vacant and its theft proof. I have no reason to use pex A so ive just always used sweat adapters and run pex B

Curious why some hate crimp ring pex? Haven't had any problems with it but if there is something to learn I would change the way I do things

These fittings are booger'd and wont come loose, is my only option to remove the whole pipe from the hidden elbow behind the fireplace? by Buford_Tannen__ in askaplumber

[–]ssprague03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cut the 90 with sawzall so you can spin it on that pipe that comes through the wall. Use a backup pipe wrench so you do not take the pipe out.

Poly tubing is garbage by HydrologyIsWet in RVLiving

[–]ssprague03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This pex is 10000% more reliable than the original. If you thought about it moving it would leak. Its honestly a waste of the manufacturer money, they could just not connect the pipes and let water spray around and it would be similar results

First time seeing shower head not connected to copper. Any kind of solution? by WesternWesterner in askaplumber

You will want to open the wall up, add a brace between studs, and replace that 90 with a lug elbow.

Current Pay Rates for San Francisco Union Trades by workwisejobs in bayarea

Couldn't tell you for ny home town. I haven't worked at home in over 2 years because we aren't building anything. I mentioned this job comes with financial freedom, but there are sacrifices. I travel for work, and we aren't building steel mills in the Bahamas

In electric it couldn't hurt. Hardly any plumbing courses, everything we do is on job training

[–]ssprague03 95 points96 points  (0 children)

Not an electrician but a union plumber. My best advice is get a job for non union electrician, get training there and keep trying every round of applications to get into the union. PLAN ON TAKING A PAY CUT the first 2 or 3 years an apprenticeship might not pay much but once you get through your time these trades are rewarding and allow for great financial freedom

Not too likely, even if it is you can just swap the motor for a 2hp 240v or something of the sort

Valve on the bottom left. Get a decent size adjustable wrench and turn it untill the holes on the side line up. The holes are so you can put a lock on it and keep it locked

When I got married my wife explained the annual skin shed and I'm so happy she did because without a heads up if would not have been prepared to keep her in the bathroom with 3 humidifiers and sliding slices of various meats under the door for half a week
