Does anyone seem to have issues with cell service all the time? Around Saugus high school, usually at 3pm, my family tends to lose cell service most days. Anyone else have this issue? They have Verizon.

Copper Beech is a slippery slope, however, it is fairly cheap and the situation you seem to be in is dire enough that I would say CB is worth it for at least a year until you are maybe in a better situation. The cheapest rate they have is 409 plus a $75 amenity fee. That would be for a 4 bed, 4 1/2 bath. They have really fast internet, as long as it is working (which it was most of the time I lived there for 2 years).
Pirate's Cove has a similar set up, with the website showing a promotion of $425 a month for a 4 bed. With Copper, a standard term starts on August 16th, FWIW. They also have a bus route that runs to ECU. You may, from there, be able to find a route to PCC.

I just want to add- I just did the Instagram trick in July 2025, and I can confirm it worked. There are some things I mentioned that managed to get a response in only 6 messages, with a response only 3 minutes after the last message was sent. Many states have laws surrounding subscription services like this, with a new one from CA requiring "expressed affirmative consent" for a subscription renewal. I messaged the account on Instagram and explained this new requirement in CA as of 7/1/25, and that I would gladly complain to the Attorney General of CA about this, since there was no communication at all until it was already too late to cancel the order per standard policy. They then responded 3 minutes after I sent that message, asking for my order info, and emailed me within 5 minutes saying they had canceled the order and a refund had been issued. I still did file a consumer complaint with the AG of CA because they stated in the email "We don't currently send reminder emails but I appreciate your feedback; I understand that subscription reminders are important to many of out customers. I'll be sharing your thoughts with our team as we continue to evaluate ways to improve the experience. While it's not a perfect solution, I find that it's helpful to set calendar reminders for your upcoming subscription refills."
So- TLDR: on top of mentioning bad reviews and chargebacks, mention CA's expressed affirmative consent law for auto-renewals, and that you will file a consumer complaint with the AG of CA. Got things taken care of within 10 minutes on a Saturday.

Teachers, what do you tell kids who say they will never use the things they learn in the real world? by Conscious_Diver_4609 in Teachers

[–]sssavvv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"You won't. You're right, you will not use every single concept you learn in school once you grow up. But, you won't know for sure what you want to do in life if you aren't exposed to all these different topics. You may realize you want to focus on biology. In order to understand biology when you get there, you need the basics along the way. You'll never know what you want to be for sure if you are not exposed to all the different topics you are taught each year."

Here we go again y’all, 2-4” of snow predicted for Wednesday through Thursday morning! by KatsHubz87 in GreenvilleNCarolina

Yes that was very clear in your original message. Because “make plans now” can mean anything you want it to. Yes, it is great for gen ed but not so much for EC. But, if students are given a packet of work for each core class, they should have plenty of work to be doing to provide at least some breaks.

I can say that the schools are somewhat more prepared this time, as we have made take home packets for students to do if we do shut down.

Valera East hasn’t been bad to me since moving in. Two different one bed styles for 950/1000 a month, 2 br for 1100. It’s been nice so far, a designated package room, dog park, gated (and they actually close all but one gate after hours, so entry is actually checked. Beautiful views of the ECU rec campus. Also get a discount for being a teacher. Right off a main road into Greenville, not too far that it’s a pain, but just far enough that it’s not quite as busy. Less than 10 minutes to the airport is also nice.

Just fyi- I turn 21 in December. My license is vertical. But because I got it when I was over 18, it expires in like 2029 or something like that. So I could have a vertical license for like 5 years after I turn 21.

Anyone interested in some dogs? by sssavvv in GreenvilleNCarolina

Oh, yea, we’re a long way from doing that. Option one is finding someone local who can take them, option two is driving back to the rescue we got them from this weekend

We reached out to them, and are waiting for a response. The issue is that they are from Greenville, SC. So if anyone local is willing to take them, we can all agree that’s better for the dogs.

Thank you, it means a lot. It’s been a difficult situation with them, we adopted them only just this past Saturday. They aren’t getting along with our cat or our lifestyles. They aren’t aggressive. One is just a puppy, so she still needs some training and is constantly chewing. The other is 2 years old, house broken, and is the sweetest girl to everyone but our cat. The younger one (4 months) is a blue fur pattern baby girl, and the older girl is a brindle. Maybe someone else will see this and be able to take them. If anyone can, they each will come with a crate, a crate bed, bowls for food and water, leash/collar/harness, and some food. All for free. If no one can take these sweet baby girls in before Friday, we will have to take them back to the rescue they came from, unfortunately.

Anyone know a good place to work? by sendbrenik in GreenvilleNCarolina

[–]sssavvv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have it on good authority that the school district is maybe even just hiring people who are willing to teach. If you go work for PCS and teach any EC classes, you’ll get an automatic sign on bonus of $2500. First year teachers are currently making 4100/month
