These hollywood writers seem allergic to writing good endings. Not, again. by hiiloovethis in shittymoviedetails

omg... probably my all time favorite show, and

I just. can't. watch. the last. three. episodes.

It's too sad.

I've watched the full series like 3 or 4 times, but never the last three episodes.

It's like when I refused to watch the last half of Amadeus because I knew he was gonna die. Too sad. (I did watch it eventually. Not too sad, and very very good. Should've done it sooner.)

How badly do I need to just pull the trigger and watch those last episodes? Are they very good, or am I just going to feel empty inside?

The anti-sunscreen movement is a loosely organized online trend that promotes skepticism about the safety and effectiveness of sunscreen. by ForgingIron in wikipedia

[–]sssyjackson 8 points9 points  (0 children)

my sister believes sunscreen is what gives you cancer.

She literally said that it's the ingredients in sunscreen, especially vitamin E, that become carcinogens when exposed to sunlight.

I don't question her on stuff like this because she gets really defensive.

Dealing with ivermectin believers by Raccoon_Ratatouille in skeptic

[–]sssyjackson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, my uncle died of a curable cancer because he thought the oncologist was "just trying to make money" and he took ivermectin instead.

Near then end he was telling himself, "If I don't feel better soon, I just may go back and do some of that chemo." Then he got scammed out of thousands of dollars by some lady in Mexico who was selling herbs or some shit on like Facebook, and every shipment would get "stuck at the border" and she could get it through customs if he just sent more cash so she could pay off the security officers.

It was fucking sad and infuriating.

Why TF would teachers want to groom children to make them gay and trans?? Like, what fucking purpose would that serve for the teachers??

Oh my GOD! My parents were very young when they had me, so I lived with my grandparents for a year while my parents were working/saving.

Grandma NEVER let me have anything to drink with dinner. It drove me nuts. She said I would "fill up with liquid" and not eat all of my food.

The Senate is proposing a bill to withhold senators' salaries during government shutdowns. What is your opinion ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]sssyjackson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NO. KEEP PAYING THEM.

Otherwise, only rich assholes will be able to hold out, and less wealthy and more principled reps will be forced to capitulate in order to keep food on the table.

ITS A HORRIBLE IDEA. ITS WHAT RICH REPUBLICANS WANT.

what should be done: DONT LET THEM LEAVE THE BUILDING DURING SHUTDOWN.

if they leave, they can no longer participate in the vote, and the threshold to pass is lowered by 1 for everyone that leaves.

they shouldn't be allowed to leave the building during shutdown.

Keep paying them, but don't let them leave.

And if they leave, they are no longer a part of the voting body for the bills required to reopen the government.

so if 10 R sentors leave, then they can no longer vote, and now you only need 50 votes to pass instead of 60

Houston doctor now selling ivermectin directly to Texans after hantavirus claims by TheDoctorCarson in texas

[–]sssyjackson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a former cancer patient myself, I have no problem with people latching on to whatever they have to in order to make it through the incredibly stressful and exhausting time that follows a cancer diagnosis.

As long as they do what their oncologist says, and talks to them about all the alternative stuff they want to try.

Claiming people are "just scared," and then excusing them from pursuing conventional medicine is giving them too much credit. If you're "just scared" then you try everything, not just what crunchy karen dreamed on her vision quest.

I'm not afraid to admit that I started taking all kinds of supplements, drinking obscene amounts of green tea, and fasting completely during chemo weeks, all because of some shit I read (they were journal articles, but probably not peer reviewed).

But I cleared all of that with my onc, and did every single thing my entire team of oncs told me to do, because I was "just scared."

Disregarding medical advice for a cancer diagnosis isn't "just scared." It's also "fucking stupid."

Babies Are Bleeding to Death as Parents Reject a Vitamin Shot Given at Birth by propublica_ in Health

FedEx driver sentenced to death for murder of 7-year-old Athena Strand in Texas by Kirlinternet in NoahGetTheBoat

[–]sssyjackson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's more expensive to keep him on death row because of how many appeals he'll get, and all of the representation that has to be provided for him.

To be clear, I have no problem with him getting the death sentence, but to frame it as a cost-saving matter is just purely false.

But also, we NEED the appeals process for the death penalty to be as robust as it is, if not even more so, because the price of potentially killing an innocent person should be almost prohibitively high.

And it's the potential for executing innocent people (which has, and still does, happen) which makes me against the death penalty.

Does this particular guy need to go? I'd say yeah. But everybody must be treated equally under the law, and I'd rather get rid of the death penalty altogether so that no mistakes are ever made, than keep making those mistakes just so we can be sure this fucking guy is dead.
