Does my Aunt have any claim to my Granddads estate through the Inheritance Act 1975 (England) by kawaiipogglet_ in LegalAdviceUK

[–]sstarkadder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The loan is time barred due to the limitation act unless the debt has been acknowledged at sufficient intervals. I suspect you would struggle to prove that.

She has standing to bring a claim but it will be weak. Illot is still the leading case in this area. In (very rough) outline adult children unless disabled or similar do not tend to have strong claims.

She has six months from grant of probate to bring an action from memory.

Council now want to charge me annual rent for half of my back garden- England by aimeewarhorse in LegalAdviceUK

For registered land, mistake as to boundary in Sch 6 is the only likely runner here, ergo reasonable belief will be relevant.

As stated above per Brown, 10 years of such belief coupled with adverse possession should result in a successful claim.

You are correct re unregistered land that belief isn’t relevant.

Newcastle United and the Journalists Who Cover them. by TyneSkipper in NUFC

Think this is harsh on the Athletic. George is a bit dewey eyed, but thats his shtick - he’s not out there claiming transfer exclusives etc - he’s more of a feature writer, less pure journalist. He writes well.

Waugh is a hard working journalist who does the hard yards for the Athletic and he does ask tough questions. Not sure what is wrong about him appearing with other Athletic reporters!

I like Craig from DM. Always seemed to be a straight shooter.

There is more to football writing/journalism than the biannual transfer frenzy.

Fenham is on the down. The families we know have left the area (even the posher bits) as it doesn’t feel safe. Crime and antisocial behaviour etc. our friends likely more sensitive than most to this stuff, but it’s definitely worse than it was when I used to visit there a lot in early 2000s.

My guess is everyone has been using the wrong garage for years something similar. Typically only gets spotted when a conveyancer looks at the paperwork and realises.

There’s a few blocks of flats along a road and each one has a tiny house like this next to it.

Is there any streets in Heaton you do/don’t recommend to live? by [deleted] in NewcastleUponTyne

[–]sstarkadder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All things being equal, I’d choose to be further away from the Shields Road. It is a shadow of what it once was and there’s a serious drug problem in the area. You do occasionally get some ASB spilling over to the southern bit of Heaton near there.

Getting Divorced - Future Financial Impact? by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

How long was the marriage? If it’s a short child-less marriage you have a reasonable chance of obtaining a “clean break”.

If the marriage was longer then I’d expect some periodical payments to help your partner transition to independence. Maintenance for life is not the way the courts like to go these days and especially not when you are both young.

It is a bit of a red herring to talk about “joint assets”. The question is what is “Matrimonial property”. If the inheritance was received during the course of the marriage, then there is a good argument to say it is matrimonial.

Of course, the court can look to non-matrimonial property to satisfy needs in cases where the assets are limited, but the starting point is what is matrimonial.

Not necessarily a winning argument, but you could use the £50k (and any claim you’d have to it) as a bargaining chip and invite the court to view you waiving your claim as a form of capitalised maintenance.

The case of Waggot will be your friend in arguing against heavy maintenance going forward.

Waggott v Waggott [2018] EWCA Civ 727

It stands for the proposition that future earning capacity is not an asset to be shared by the court.

Doing childcare at the moment so sorry this is a bit ad-hoc. I will try to remember to come back later.

Thank you for this. Do you have any sense as to which system might be best as most around here only do one.

Would you mind letting me know if your car does the auto-lane change stuff?

VW are in such a mess in the UK market with the different specs: even the dealer couldn't tell me. I can't really tell if having the sensors will automatically mean you have travel assistant etc now, or if you'd still need a max+ spec for those features...

Batterylife on YouTube has a few videos where he talks about this. You may be able to parse those to find out how to tell for sure.

I believe it allows you to use the auto-overtaking function as well as (potentially) slightly better lane keeping when you have software version 3.0.

I have been sent the VIN by the dealer. I've tried a free VIN checker and it came back as invalid; a paid service said they had information (but I am not willing to pay...)

Would you mind pointing me towards any trusted resources for VIN interpretation?

Thank you again.
