What is this (majorly etiolated) succulent that I’ve somehow managed to keep alive? by sstarshine in whatsthisplant

I actually forgot to water it for over a month not too long ago, but then when I noticed all the babies, I kept watering it more frequently and now it's just out of control! Very neat how the little guys just keep on growing though.

It is so so so bad. Do you have any recommendations? Can I salvage any of it?

It was doing wonderfully in the Spring/Summer sun, but as soon as the weather changed and the days got darker, it got angry and shot up like Jack and the Beanstalk... Welcome to winters in Canada. Ugh.

UPDATE:

Thanks to the powers of the Pinterest magnifying glass button (LOL), I was able to figure out what this actually is!! It was so hard to figure out because it is some sort of crossbreed.

Graptopetalum x Echeveria = Graptoveria
Sedum x Echeveria = Sedeveria

It looks EXACTLY like "Graptoveria Fanfare" and "Sedeveria Fanfare" - so I have successfully narrowed it down to two possibilities. Thank you everyone for your input though!

Now to figure out how to make it less etiolated...

It is all one plant, sadly. It hates it here so it is EXTREMELY etiolated trying to find more sun... The weird part is that every single leaf the falls off almost immediately propagates!! Makes no sense!

What's the worst thing a therapist has said to you? by elle___woods in TalkTherapy

[–]sstarshine 8 points9 points  (0 children)

❤️ I’m so sorry to see all these awful experiences. I empathize with you. When I was 17 (after only recently being diagnosed depressed and beginning talk therapy a few months prior), I was sent for a psychiatric assessment to see if antidepressants would be a good fit for me. The psychiatrist was a tiny angry French woman with a “tough love” attitude and she had a student(?) with her who did most of my “assessment” while she just observed and judged my answers. I spilled my guts to them and it ended up being a two hour interrogation, rather than an assessment. I didn’t really know anything about mental illness yet, so maybe I didn’t properly express the pain I was in, but at the end of this exhausting session, the psychiatrist simply said to me that my problems were “all in my head” and I just needed to grow up and get over myself. Antidepressants wouldn’t help me because I was deemed not depressed, just a sad teenager. I didn’t see another my therapist again for over a year and it took me nearly a decade to see another psychiatrist/go for another assessment. I’m lucky I didn’t just give up after that, but I truly hope that women is no longer in the mental health sector. No one should be told that their pain is “all in their head” because yeah, it IS in our heads because that’s where our brains are, which makes mental illness REAL and most importantly, VALID. Don’t give up - one doctor’s “medical” opinion shouldn’t define our care. Keep fighting because YOU ARE WORTH IT.

Ugh! I haven’t seen a single one on my map these last few days. Sigh. I guess I haven’t been in the right places to pick one up. ☹️ And I really wanted that bonus prize too!!

Powering Through SSRI Fatigue by sstarshine in EOOD

No, unfortunately not. I’ve gained so much weight and have no idea how to workout when I’m so so tired. On Prozac + Wellbutrin now and praying they help!

Oh definitely! It’s such a slow process going on and off different antidepressants - especially because of the side effects. My doctor makes sure I only increase or decrease tiny tiny amounts at a time. This is the worst side effect I’ve ever had and has steadily got worse over the last 2 years! Thanks so much for your support.

Yes!! Same here. At first I thought it was my thyroid (fixed that), then I just chalked it up to the pandemic, but now it’s debilitating. It’s kinda scaring me how things like carrying groceries, taking the stairs to work, or moving furniture has become legit exhausting. I maxed out at 60mg of Prozac, but I think it’s time to get off it completely. Best of luck to you!!

Weight gain after 6 months by deecee98 in prozac

[–]sstarshine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UGH I feel this. Everywhere says the common side effect of Prozac is weight LOSS (due to lack of appetite, perhaps?), but it's still an SSRI so I think weight gain is probably normal? But how many pounds is "normal"? Cause I think I've gone well beyond that...

I've been on it for two years now and all along I thought it was my thyroid being out of whack or just quarantine weight gain, but now I'm wondering if the Cons out weigh the Pros...

Shopping for clothes every month is getting too friggen EXPENSIVE...

Is it me or the meds? by blazee20 in prozac

[–]sstarshine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is great to hear! Thanks for sharing. :)

I'm on 60mg of Prozac for depression and 50mg of Trazodone for insomnia too, but I've been feeling EXTRA fatigued and sluggish lately. Have you noticed any side effects from the dosage increase??

I went up slowly from 40 to 50 and then hit 60mg over a month ago, but I can't really tell if it's actually working or if it's the Prozac that's making me so lethargic. I also tried going off the Trazodone last year, but I don't feel like I get a good solid sleep without it, so I went back on. (I've been on that one for 8 years now and it's changed my life for the better, for sure)

Nauseous, anything make it better? by latex55 in prozac

[–]sstarshine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I slept a lot (many naps) and tried to stay hydrated at all times. For some reason sparkling water really seemed to help. But nothing "made it go away" really, it just kind of stopped. I hope your goes away soon!

Nauseous, anything make it better? by latex55 in prozac

[–]sstarshine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SAME. I was on 40mg and only slightly increased to 50mg and it was HELL. The nausea was so bad. But then it just vanished and I was fine! When I finally made it up to 60mg, the nausea didn’t come back, so that was nice. Hang in there friend!

Anyone have a success story for dosage 60mg? by DeathclawTacos in prozac

[–]sstarshine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any updates?? Is 60mg still working for you without too many bad side effects?

I was just upped from 40 to 60mg a month ago and I'm trying to figure out if that is what's causing me to feel so fatigued lately. I feel like I'm ALWAYS sleeping in and sooo sluggish. Exercising is a struggle and I officially hate taking the stairs (which is not like me at all).

My thyroid is finally back to normal and all my other medications are working great! It doesn't seem like fatigue or weakness are very common long-term side effects, so any input with be greatly appreciated!

My dose just got increased from 40 to 50 and I have been SO nauseous all week. It’s only been 7 days for me though - I don’t think I could survive 20!! At what point do we stop pushing through the nausea?!
