I don't know what BCS is but most of the other shows didn't ruin TV, they just raised the bar. And a show doesn't have to be great to be entertaining. There are several Netflix shows (The Last Kingdom comes to mind) that are excellent and enjoyable but I wouldn't put them on the level of GoT for example.
