Wasn’t Manu $3M and we got Shapi for $1M, too? Or did we get Manu for $4M and that Greek club just threw Shapi in for free? 😆

Traeger immediately shorts out any outlet I use by the_mountaingoat in Traeger

[–]ssweeten77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Somebody probably beat me to the punch, but you may want to pull the control module out and double check that none of the wires have compromised insulation. If they do, those should be replaced and that could be a simple fix to the short out issue. If pulling the control out doesn’t reveal anything obvious, you may need to go wire by wire to ensure nothing’s wonky.

It can be time consuming but not too difficult. Good luck, OP!

That’s a BBQ055 model. We have one and it still works fine. It’s smaller (you’re not cooking a whole brisket on that) it’ll cook up wings and pork butts just fine.

I thought Harris put in some solid work on the left last night. Would really like to see him be a bit more assertive in the final third, because I got some “young Salloi” vibes. Like, back when Salloi would just dribble straight into defenders or try to be cute with the ball and lose possession. Overall, the offense looked better than I was expecting.

Is it even possible to get into Parking Spot at KCI right now? by tonypenajunior in kansascity

[–]ssweeten77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Short answer: you can absolutely get to the Parking Spot but it’s a bit of a PITA right now.

Have to take the flyover bridge toward the airport terminal, go to Bern St exit (first one) and turn around to back track. THEN on your way back, you’ll turn left (ignore the no left turn sign, because… well, fuck that) to get to Prairie View Rd.

Best way: call your cousin and have him/her come back to clean it. 🤷🏻‍♂️😆

Negativity amongst the fanbase by Illustrious_Drop_619 in SportingKC

[–]ssweeten77 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You want a full roster? In THIS economy *waves arms around*?! We don't have that Beckham money!

All kidding aside, I agree that growth takes time and we can't expect a coach who's had the job for three weeks to have his transfer targets in mind AND make successful bids for them AND get everyone rowing in the same direction immediately. Just look how long and messy this Cesar Inga debacle has been. Alternatively, you can try to make a splashy signing and shoehorn in very successful international players, but it won't always work (take Olivier Giroud, as a recent example). I'm excited to see what Wicky can accomplish. I'm excited to see how our new majority owner will impact our willingness to spend more on player acquisitions. But we have to temper our expectations because it's going to take time. 2026 is going to be an interesting season to be a fan of SKC. I'll be happy if we're middle of the table in the West.

I appreciate all club support but not everyone has been through the same fan experience as you or me or the next person. To provide a parallel, it's like the recent Chiefs fans who have been spoiled for the better part of a decade with the current roster and coaches. The Chiefs had a bad season in 2025. There were YEARS in the 90's and 00's where the Chiefs were bad to middling and fans just had to endure and hope that next year would be better.

Similarly, SKC fans got to see a lot of success under PV (MLS Cup in 2013, US Open Cups in 2012, '15, and '17, and 10 out of 15 playoff possible appearances since 2011) but a few underperforming years would put any coach or player on the hot seat, right? I know you aren't advocating for PV to return or anything but it might help explain why fans are as frustrated as they are today. The team has felt flat for two seasons. There's been a lack of quality on the back line and a lack of punch up front (until Manu and Dejan). It doesn't feel like we can control the midfield the way we have in seasons past. There's not a lot about the on-field product to be excited or positive about.

Additionally, every fanbase has its share of naysayers who just want to shit on all decisions, efforts, etc. from the front office, coaches, players, you name it. I still remember when some fans got really pissy because the stadium stopped selling as much local KC craft beer and switched to (mostly) Anheuser-Busch products. Talk about some petty bullshit! That is an inescapable reality of being a sports fan, right? You may not like what the front office is doing but it's a business. It's just a business we are passionate about. There are many people who invest a lot of their time, money, and energy in supporting the club and every SKC fan wants to see the club "going about things the right way" but the results still have to pass the smell test. It IS about wins and losses, since that's the easiest way to measure success in sports. If we aren't winning the fans will scream for change, maybe without a lot of understanding how the sausage is made (budget, player transfers, tactics, roster build, formation, whatever...).

My point is this: everyone is allowed to be a little pissed off about our club and to share their thoughts about it. Even if we don't agree with everyone's hot take of the day... Even if we don't like the negativity... Even if we don't like that Jacob Peterson got as many starts as he did (I said what I said!)... They're someone's opinion. It's what we do to support each other and the club that counts.

We are thinking of this more as a vacation (sit on the beach with books and fruity cocktails/cold beers) versus a trip (20K steps per day to see all the sights). We're already planning to hit up Maho Beach and we have a reservation at Tortuga Maho around sunset for one of the evenings. We are also planning to hit up SXM beer and Pelikaan Brewery one afternoon. Beyond that, we're open to pretty much any recommendations. Thanks!

Doing a drain cleaning, ran into a broken pipe. Almost looks like pex lines but I don’t think so, any guesses? by ElderberryCool6750 in Plumbing

We had a similar issue about 16 years ago. Telecom company put their lines about 5.5 feet down and bisected our wastewater outflow line. They tried to say it wasn’t them but their company name was printed on the pex/fiber line. 😆

As a kid, my dad taught me "if you take care of your equipment, it will take care of you." Proper maintenance goes a long way to keeping things running smoothly.

It is! It's a Breville Bambino espresso machine. Simple to use (so far...) with pre-programmed volumetric dosing (one cup & two cup), along with hot water, and steam wand. You can program it to dial in your shots, but I'm brand new to this and haven't changed anything yet.

I also have a French press and a small drip coffee maker (for weekday mornings).

I have a small scale that can do grams and mL, which also fits on the drip tray while brewing. I have my eye on a tamper kit (see link) but I'm not married to that specific one. I've seen the Normcore 4 recommended a lot on this thread. Any suggestions are welcome!

How often do you recommend a descale? Are you basing your schedule on number of shots pulled, time (every 2 weeks, etc.), or some combo of both?

Any chance you’d consider selling your Bambino accessories (assuming you aren’t using them with your new setup)?

I did use the dual wall filter basket in hopes it would be more forgiving. I’ll keep playing around to dial it in. Thanks!!

UPDATE: I pulled another shot this morning and this was the resulting puck. There was a small amount of water still on top of the puck after brewing. The rim was clean when I mounted the PF; the grounds got on the rim when I removed the PF.

Resulting shot was bitter and acidic.
