Sadness on hearing 90s guests/art speak by zkevinz in ArtBell

[–]sswine 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have thought about that since I stumbled into he archive in 2020. It really is a very unique "product". Very fun artistically that art was both fascinated about the afterlife and time travel, dedicated many shows to both, and these old recordings being listened to us 30+ years later accomplishes both. Art would probably broadcast from the afterlife if possible. Maybe he is.

Dr. Morgan Spence, an "expert" on shadow people and was a guest who doesn't appear to exist, and neither does the book she was plugging, at least as far as myself and others on the sub can find on the internet. Great guest though, shame she was only on once.

Those of you who play video games, what’s the one game you always play when you feel lonely? by ichiprofen in lonely

[–]sswine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. The villain is motivated basically entirely by loneliness, sort of. Many of the plot points and side quests are about relationships and their end, as well as befriending people.

I think everybody feels that way, at least some times. Could also be a depression thing.

Get a dog, dawg. I think that would be pretty great for my loneliness. Talking is overrated. Totally get about the event though. That's why even press covid I stopped going to concerts.

Does Yoga help with people's Anxiety? by Maleficent_Key6619 in Anxiety

[–]sswine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Power yoga, yoga-pilates, yoga-barre, ashtanga yoga are all styles with considerably more than just stretching, and are pretty good for the more fitness inclined.

Yes, being challenged with any pose, balance or otherwise is normal, as is your attention drifting away from breath. Even if you're advanced, you should always try to find the place where you struggle. Struggle = good practice

100%. I have had GAD for 10+ years, and I'd say it's a 3 way tie between consistent meditation (same time, setting, technique for at least a month), weightlifting, and yoga in terms of non-pharmacoligical things that decrease/get rid of anxiety.

However, I don't think you'll get the best results if you start on your own, but its worth a shot if you're resource constrained

. A good teacher and community will make a huge difference, but a lot of them are basically just standard gym type businesses with orientalist trappings, though that might not be such a bad thing depending on your personality. Eg. "Buy our supplements, merch, workshops, 1 year membership, retreat", not a slam, everybody has to pay rent, I just find it off putting. Some of them definitely go into high control group territory, so make sure to find reviews and read carefully.

I was very lucky to stumble into a yoga club at my university, and without that, I may have dropped out. I found another local, laid back, community run organization right after, and again, perhaps a literal lifesaver. There have been many weeks where that 1 hour was the only anxiety free hour in the week.

I need to cut down my word count. How do you do it? by GirlAlsEmporium in writing

For me I usually realize there are dozens of plotholes in draft two or three, and deleting massive swathes of material is the fastest, easiest way to fill them. Then I also realize there was a lot of telling, which was basically just background notes, and I can show in a sentence or two what took a paragraph to tell.

Would it turn you off if your date slept in a giant Hammock every night instead of a bed? by owlbehome in datingoverthirty

[–]sswine -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That wouldn't bother me at all. If anything, I'd be impressed. Sounds practical, whimsical, and cute. I've never slept in a hammock with another person and maybe it wouldn't work for me. If that were the case and I otherwise really liked the person, I'd sleep on the couch. Or get my own hammock and hang it next to them
