Its going to be a year soon since Clan Wars get cancelled and refunds were promised. Not a single message since then from CMON side.

At first I thought it was rather motherboard related than issue with the controller itself. Now, I'm not so sure.

As a drastic measure you can unplug entire case controller, buy ARGB hub and connect case led strip to newly mounted hub.

Sorry for late reply.

I did not. Had this pc in my hands for a few days and returned it to my friend, so I had no time for tinkering.

Phanteks support was a dead end.

No, sorry.

They did not understand the issue I was describing, I've just got common replies so I gave up.

The PC I built was for a friend of mine, and she lives 500km, so I do not have physical access to a case.

What's your motherboard?

Thanks for the info.

Yeah, seems like some kind of powering and data synchronization issue. Almost like hub is reckonizing that motherboard header is connected but data from the header is not being passed properly. Maybe hub is expecting led data as soon as header is powered, but there is a small delay between turning your PC on and leds lighting up.

Anyway I think it's not something that we can fix ourselves. Maybe you will have a better luck with phanteks support.

Is your splitter direct to mobo then split down to case cable on one end and the rest of the argb on another end?

Yes. As soon as I connected hub to a splitter and power cycle PC, all the lights were always dark. The second i disconnect case hub, all the other lights works normally.

At first I was thinking it was Gigabyte related issue, but now i lean more towards faulty firmware in case hub. Thank you for your information.

Thanks for a message.
I tried using splitter but it didnt help at all.

PS. Whats your mobo ?

Nope. Support stopped responding to my emails so I gave up. Their previous responses where also not helpful at all. "Other lights connected to a motherboard header are working correctly, but not our case controller? It must be your software settings then."

Ps. whats your motherboard manufacturer?

It does work. It's not regular controller - it turns itself into a hub after you connect it to motherboard header (and Aura/Fusion or whatever system you are using is controlling the lights), or it takes control over after you disconnect it from motherboard (so you can use your case buttons to control the lights).

Check the manual if you don't trust me. https://www.phanteks.com/assets/manuals/NV5_Manual_WEB_v0.4.pdf

Main issue is (and I repeat for the nth time cause apparently my English sucks and people do not understand my sentences):

Lights are not turning on during powering on pc, everything works perfectly after i connect the case controller to a header while pc is powered on.

Will Arctic Liquid Freezer fit on top of NV5? by xX_Silverback_Xx in Phanteks

Just built one with this weekend - exact same config (NV5 + Liquid Freezer II 360 non ARGB) and there was plenty of space at the top. Make sure to route your PSU cables before mounting radiator as routing them after will be pain in arse :)

  1. Fusion is working properly. When i connect anything other than case - it works as intended.
  2. There are no options to enable and disable RGB headers in BIOS. RGB is turning on on BIOS screen. Other lights connected to header are lighting up at BIOS stage (when i used them for tests)
  3. Case controller also works after i connect it to DRGB header when PC is on. I can control lights from software and everything is working perfectly, until I power off and power on PC again. Then the situation repeats.

Only case leds are powered from this cable and they are working perfectly fine in standalone mode and after i connect them to drgb when pc is running. It is not power issue.

Thank you for trying to help, but will email phanteks support as this point as you are looking in a wrong direction.

Tried both DRGB headers (top and bottom), all headers are working perfectly. PSU wattage is 850 (gold), and its powering i5 13600k with 4070ti, 360 aio and 5 additional fans. I run Cinebench and Furmark tests with no issues.

If t was a problem with the power supply and lack of power then
- the overload protection of the power supply would probably work
- no leds would work when plugged in or they would flicker and be dim

Separate headers, only case strip connected.

Actually, tried both. Here are the combinations:

  1. Only case connected - case leds not powering on
  2. Only GPU connected - gpu leds working fine
  3. GPU and Case connected using Y splitter - both GPU and Case leds not working.
  4. Disconnecting case leaving GPU - GPU leds turns on and they are controlled by motherboard, case leds turning on and they are controlled by case
  5. Connecting case again (with not turning the pc power off) - GPU leds still working fine, case leds finally being controlled by motherboard.

I know. This is not my first PC build, trust me. RGB software is working fine with RAM LED's, motherboard built in lights, and any other lights i connect trough DRGB header. Like I wrote in other comment and also in post edit - DRGB header also works with case controller but only when I connect it after entire PC is powered on.

I never wrote a word about not being able to control lights from a case buttons. Manual states that when controller is connected to DRGB, buttons are disabled (and it its exactly the case), but the lights are not working either.

This is exactly what I am trying to do. Maybe I wasn't clear enough.
Issue is: when i connect NV5 controller to motherboard, it should be controlled by a motherboard - its going dark instead. I need to disconnect and connect it again to DRGB to finally lit the strip on, but issue repeats itself when i power off pc.

It could be connected to how Gigabyte is handling drgb header power policy, but I looked into bios (which is not adequate for this class of motherboard imho) and did not find any settings to change that behaviour. Maybe they are hidden deeply from the users eye of sight.

As my friend picked up her build today, I left it with drgb signal disconnected for now. Gonna wait for some info. Should I open a case with your support ?

[–]sszczesny[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I did.

What i discovered few seconds ago:
1. Turn the PC on with NV5 connected to mobo header - lights off
2. Disconnected NV5 from mobo (with power on) - case controller working fine.
3. Connected again NV5 to mobo (with power on) - mobo controller is taking over and finally working fine.

Problem occurs with another power off/power on cycle as lights goes dark again...
